How do you receive your card on a renewal without an interview? Through the mail?

The renewal is essentially updating the information they have--what countries you've visited, address and employment changes etc. They send the new card via mail, which is how I got my original card. I'm assuming the photo is the same.

I believe if the card expires, they make you do a new application. At least that happened to my coworker. He also learned the card still works after it expires!

So it sounds like I'm going to have to go through the whole process again. :(

I renewed my Global Entry application, and apparently it is a known bug or "feature" that if you do that, then you cannot renew NEXUS until it expires.

It's completely stupid.

I wish I had known that about the card still being useful. Of course it doesn't matter now, because AirFrance has lost my NEXUS card along with everything else.

Seems like some crazy variance. Can't understand why some people applying in mid-Jan and mod-Feb. are getting approved on the same day, while others applying at those same times have no updates.

For the record, Im at 45 busijsss days - applied exactly 9 weeks ago today, on Feb. 5. Nothing yet for my renewal.

I put in my renewal on January 31, and I still haven't heard anything. My estimate was mid to late April, so we're approaching the time I expected it.

If my renewal is still pending after my NEXUS expires, will my renewal get denied and I'll have to start a new application?

I doubt it. Your renewal shall proceed even though your NEXUS expires during your renewal process.

My membership was to expire in August but now since I renewed it's good to Aug of 2022. The application was specified as a renewal and my prior info was all pre-filled when I went through it so it was quick. I have not yet received my new card but the approval letter said they'd be mailing one to me. They'll just use my old photo...similar to renewing a drivers license in some states (such as WA) where you can renew online every other renewal.

I think your mistake was waiting until it expired. Next time, renew just after your birth date in the year prior to expiration..that way you'll get nearly 6 years of membership instead of 5. No guarantees they won't require an interview.. they just didn't in my case.

Thanks for the reply. As you'll read further on down the line, I didn't choose to wait until it expired.

There is a known bug in the process that once you renew your Global Entry, then you can't choose to renew NEXUS until it expires. It's completely stupid, but that's what it is.

I didn't know that beforehand. Why would I? I'll just know better for next time.

When did you apply for your NEXUS?

Worse case when you arrive SFO from SJD, use mobile passport app, https://www.mobilepassport.us/, as soon as you arrive SFO. Many reported mobile passport app process is very quick, almost as fast as Global Entry kiosk.

Good luck and please come back and let us know your end result.

I did my renewal application on 2/16.

Next time renew the day after your birthday, the year prior to expiration date.

Hope your renewal will come through before your YYJ trip.

This was a bit unexpected, but I got my conditional approval today. My application was completed sometime in mid-March, though I don't remember the exact date.

Spouse - renewed Nexus in early March, approved 4/17.
Me - renewed Nexus in early February, approved x/x (still waiting).

OK. At least it wasn't just me. I was starting to almost feel bad about this.

Almost.

So, I'm still waiting for my renewal (applied 2/16), but my GOES account shows:

Attachment 31163

Does this mean that I can still get PreCheck/GE, or is it just a hiccup with GOES.
