FWIW I've used CLEAR+Precheck a number of times in several different locations and while I can't 100% swear to it, I do not remember my boarding pass ever being rescanned by the TSA checker. The CLEAR employee just says "one for Precheck" and then escorts me past the checker. But I could certainly believe that this varies by airport and/or who's working the line on any given day.

I'm sorry I keep making that assumption. Let me guarantee you that you will have to rescan your boarding pass in DEN. It's the only place I've been where I have been able to use CLEAR.

There is at MSP. I've also seen it at other airports, including SEA, LAX T5, JFK T2, LGA DL terminal, behind the premium check in area at ORD, IIRC ATL, etc.

Ditto, I am never scanned by TSA @SFO after clearing through Clear.

I know TSA wants to verify the PreCheck via the beeps, so they trust the Clear staff to have heard them during their scan?

It has never occurred to me to ask them; thus I can only relay my experiences, as has Boraxo. You are free to draw your own conclusions

I don't recall ever hearing any beeps when the CLEAR agent scans my BP.

Curiouser and curiouser ... paid my $79 fee, off to have biometrics taken tomorrow. With my luck there'll be absolutely no one on the PreCheck line on Saturday when I arrive at BWI.

Since weekends are full of leisure travelers, I doubt there will be much of a line. I flew DEN-SAN on Sunday morning. The regular line in the south checkpoint was 25 minutes (at 6:30am! ), the Pre-Check line had a few people, and the CLEAR line was empty.

On Monday mornings at DEN, the Pre-Check line can be 40-60 people long. That is when I value CLEAR.

After my biometrics were taken, I asked the Clear employee (DCA) whether I'd need to have my bp re-scanned by TSA. She replied with mild disgust it seemed, "No, it's not supposed to work that way!" This afternoon, the PreCheck line was busy, while the regular line was nearly empty.

FYI, when you apply even for a free membership (as a DL DM), a credit card number is required. It seems to automatically renew and there's a $30 voluntary termination fee in their T&C, which you see by scrolling down in the window at the very end. Read carefully before signing up.

I got off scott-free with my 2 month trial, guess I was a lucky one.

I read the T&C to mean that $30 is charged against a pro-rated early refund, not against an actual non-renewal situation. They keep the credit card info in case of losing Diamond status before renewal.
