Ok, so here's an update. I got my conditional approval on Friday, September 1 2017, and tried to get appointments at Hartford (BDL). Initial appointment was only available in Feb 2018, but I checked and rechecked and got one in October 2017, then in late September 2017, and the finally on 12 Sep 2017. However none of them were convenient for me as I'm traveling this week. So I went to the BDL global entry office today (Tuesday September 5 2017) to try my luck at walkin. The office opens at 9 am and I got there at 9.30 and as I reached there the office was totally empty with just one other person waiting (and that was a walkin too). The officer first took her in for the interview and after 2 mins it was my turn. Within 5 mins I was approved and out of there. As I was walking out I saw that the GE office was still empty with the CBP officer just waiting for atleast someone to show up. I guess BDL airport is really good for walk ins, if someone would like to give it a try. So here's the datapoint. I can't edit the wiki so if someone wants to add this info to the wiki that will be great!

BDL - Bradley International Airport - International Arrivals Building -- Hartford, CT

9/5/2017, 9.30 am, waited 2 mins, accepted for walk in.

Done.

PIT

My husband flew roundtrip to Pittsburgh for business and was able to do his interview as a walk in on 8/31 at about 1:00PM. He only waited about ten minutes and was in and out of the interview in about 5 minutes. His card came in the mail today.

PIT isn't on the wiki and I have no idea how to add it, so if someone else wants to that would be great!

Been lurking here for years...not sure why I never registered. Anywhoo...

DC Enrollment Center
Yes [10m] (9/16/2017 9:30am)

My wife and I went together and we both did not have an appointment. Two others with appointments came in with us. After they were taken care of, the officer called both of us up together, checked our documents, took our prints and photo, and sent us on our way. We were in there for less than 30 minutes and most of that time was chatting randomly about stuff that had nothing to do with the interview. By the time we got back to the car, we had a notification from GOES and our applications had been accepted. I was very pleased with the overall process. One week from application to acceptance (with a two day delay before we could do a walk-in). If you are in the DMV, this is the place to go if you need an interview sooner than the appointments allow (currently DC, BWI, and IAD are booked until 10/18).

In talking to CBP, they told me that the DC HQ location is the only enrollment center that accepts all walk ins. So if you are desperate and in DC,they are your best bet for an interview. Also, beginning Oct 1, with their new website launch you will be able to see interview availability before you apply. Of course that may change by the time you are conditionally approved, but it should at least let you know what you are dealing with before you apply.

applied for global entry 9/10, was conditionally approved 9/14. Next appointment available in MSP was end of November. Called and they said no walk ins.

I was passing through today at 8:50am. Only one person waiting for a 9am interview. officer came out to check the sign in sheet and said no walk-ins.

MSP
No (9/21/2017 8:50am)

Was at ATL today for 1:45PM scheduled interview. Arrived 20 minutes early and there was 2 people in seating area. During the wait saw 3 different people come in to see if a "walk in" was available. All where turned away by officer saying their schedule was full.

Just an observation from SFO today - I had an appointment on Friday 8:45 am, when I was around, there were only 2 - 3 people signed up for walk-in and another one signing up after I checked in.

Anyway, my appointment was superfast - arrived at 8:45 am, officer came within a minute, went there right away, showed docs, they took fingerprint and photo and approved within 3 minutes. Left SFO within 20 minutes of arrival, so I definitely recommend checking out the website for some time (my slot showed up within an hour of frequent checking, was 3 weeks from the time I scheduled it).

For those that got a walk-in: did you have a future appointment at that specific enrollment center? I have 4 different airports I can try, but none have appointment times when I'm expected to fly through there. Can I walk into, for example, ATL when my (months-ahead) appointment is at JFK?

TWA884 Sep 29, 2017 4:18 pm

My recollection from having read many, if not most, of the posts in this thread is that some people had future appointments at the enrollment centers where they walked in and other applicants had appointments elsewhere.

Is SFO still taking walk ins 24/7?

64Driver Nov 13, 2017 2:43 pm

Yes [0] BOS. 13 NOV17 Walked up around 10:00 AM to an empty waiting room. Officer opened the door, I asked for a walk in for myself, wife and son. He said sure and I was done in about 15 minutes.
