Really? I saw that as a location when scheduling the appointment but it said none available. I didn’t know that was walk in only. Any idea where i can find more about this?

Anyone here in this forum who has tried a walk-in appointment recently?

You should post this on another thread in this forum. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trus...nterviews.html |
Oh I did not know that there is a thread for walk-in thanks!

First time trying to get a GE, but saw no interview available even up to a whole year from now! Would like to try walk-in, but have a few questions that appreciate your help
- Walk in any day is ok or have to be arrival from an international trip? - How to find out which airport at least take walk in? For example, SJC airport? is there a website for list of those airports? - If we have a big family, say 4 people, does each of them need one walk-in opening or just one for the family? thanks a lot |

Walked in to BWI on Friday, Nov 8 for a renewal interview.
The office opens 2:15 pm. I arrived at 1:30pm and could have been the first person in the walk-in line, but I decided to sit outside on the benches and get some work done rather than stand in the hallway by the door -- this cost me 7 positions :-) At around 2-2:05pm after observing a few others going through the door to the hallway without coming back out, I went in to wait also. The first agent showed up at 2:08pm, let everyone in to the inner office (there's a love seat that comfortably seats two, 8-9 hard plastic chairs, and a water fountain), and fairly quickly started processing the first 2:15pm appointment while telling everyone w/o an appointment to sign up on a sheet. Several people arriving later with appointments were always taken before anyone who was walking in, pretty much regardless of original appt time (e.g. they took some people who had 3pm appointments) A second agent showed up relatively shortly thereafter which sped up the processing rate. Even as number 7 on the waitlist I was called up to the desk around 2:40pm. Routine interview, new photo and fingerprints, and said I was all set for another 5 years. I have yet to receive any further notifications and my app still has "conditionally approved" with my original interview appt so if it doesn't clear up soon I may need to follow this other FT thread EDIT: approved this morning ^ |
Has anyone done a Walk In interview at Ft. Lauderdale CBP office which listed on GE site, is not at airport, but in the Port Everglade local business area (just at the end of the freeway on Eller Drive, in an office building on the right hand side.) ?
They do not take appointment. In fact I dont ever recall Ft. Lauderdale has ever had appointment availability. Their 2 phone numbers - 1 never has anyone to pick up the phone, the other 1 is always busy. Such an annoying practice. BTW, if anyone interested, West Palm Beach office at the port takes walk in 3 to 4pm 7 days a week, but the appointment slots only available since Feb 20 till 28. Nothing prior nothing after. MIA office at the airport has abundant availability with the earliest being Nov 18, 2 days from now! UPDATE While searching Ft. Lauderdale information to no avail, I saw West Palm Beach had a 12/05/19 slot popped up so I quickly went into my account to reschedule the 02/20/20 appointment to 12/05/19, the only slot before original appointment. I got a site error for unknown reason and the KTN did not migrate to the new appointment. However a few minutes later when I checked again, the KTN showed up on the new appointment so all is good. No need to try to walk in at Ft. Lauderdale because the appointment at West Palm Beach is just 3 weeks away. Though I am still curious on why Ft. Lauderdale office is so secretive (non airport location, primarily process CBP requirements for visiting boats that is my guess as it is located by Port Everglade..) |
Added to the Wiki but: Was in lower Manhattan for a project that finished early. My hotel is just around the corner from the Customs House/1 Bowling Green location but I the CBP website lists them as "by appointment only" -- not having anything better to do I took the train out to JFK to try my luck since the same note wasn't attached to that location.
Walked in, asked CBP officer if they did walk-ins, told me to sign in and it could be an "couple hours or more" because (obviously) they need to handle those with appointments first. Sat in their little waiting room, started weeding through emails and before I had a chance to get really comfortable was called in... gave the officer my passport, GE card (this was a renewal), he took new fingerprints a new photo and sent me on my way... maybe 20 minutes total from arrival to departure. |
JFK 11/30/2019
Did mine on a layover. Called when I landed and they said they accepted walkins but people with appointments had priority. Arrived at the office, signed in and nobody was in the waiting room. Was seen and approved in about 5 minutes. |
Fyi, Warwick, RI does walk ins after 4. I had an appointment yesterday at the end I asked the officer about the scheduling for my wife and two daughters. I had made appointments for them in March, except I could not get one for my youngest daughter. So I asked if the daughters could just go with my wife's appointment. That is when he said they do walk ins after 4. He said it is a good idea to call after 12 to check if they are doing them that day. He mentioned he was going to be there today so I brought the three of them down and got it all done, only one person was ahead of us. We live in southern MA so Warwick is much easier to go to rather than Logan, the Warwick office is in an office building a mile from 95, plenty of parking, easy in and out.
