Welcome to the trip report that goes nowhere!
I have just arrived in Birmingham for a week of meetings and for once I am staying in the city rather than out in the HIE near the office close to the NEC.
This gives me the opportunity to try out a few new restaurants so I thought Id fire up a little report. There may be interesting sights along the way but basically expect one lash up a night for the next five nights
But, I get ahead of myself. Ive just arrived in Birmingham from Sibiu - To Sibiu by Star Alliance and I am staying at the Holiday Inn close to new street station. I had received a mail earlier in the day that they had upgraded me to a suite which is lovely and spacious and of which I will see very little

All the pickles and sauces look like they are made here in the restaurant and are very good

There are six of us at the table so a real variety of mains are on the horizon. Asahi is the drink of the evening for me

We may have over ordered! Two platters, three curries, prawns, paneer, sauces, breads…. Everyone is looking forward to food comas. Every dish was fantastic but a word of caution, this is Birmingham levels of spice, order accordingly

There are two tables of us here this evening, I’m on the table of six and next to us is a table of seven. Luckily one of the guys is a local, he will be taking three bags full of food home from across the two tables!!

Rather than mess around with multiple stops I joined my new colleagues in an uber to their hotel knowing it was less than a ten minute stroll to my hotel. This turned out to a real fortunate choice. One of my coat buttons was hanging by a thread after I snagged it at the weekend and just along the road from the hotel was this fabulous little tailors

Ten minutes and ten pounds later and it’s as good as new again.

All I can say is, this better be worth the effort! Tonight’s venue is Cow & Sow in the city center. We left the office, dropped a couple of the guys at the NEC and then continued on to the city for a total trip time of an hour and a half!
The taxi dropped us off in a building site and it was all a bit of a struggle to find, but we got there eventually

After some cursing, we found it, it’s to the right of Dishoom!

The menu for this evening

And it’s been a thirsty trip
