Milan: Duomo roof

Included in our ticket was also a tour to the roof. We was a little bit short of time as we had to be at the last supper in time but we lined up for the escalator. It needed an eternety. There was also a fast access, unfortunately the line to get the tickets was much longer than the main line. So what you spare at the escalator you spend at the ticket line.
The roof is impressive and worth the wait.

Gelato: CiaccoLab Milan

Milan is a heaven for gelato-lovers. Unfortunately I couldnīt try many spots.
First we tried CiaccoLab, which is also originally located in Parma. It is number 6 of the Dissapore list.

The gelato was extraordinary. Highly recommended.

Gelato: Q.B. Gelato Milan

Our second gelato spot was Q.B. gelato, number 97 of Dissapore list.

This guy in front of the entrance was some filthy guy who was molesting the people.
The gelato was very good!

Milan: Last supper

The last supper by Leonardo Da Vinci is probably one of the most famous paintings in the world. Seeing it is not an easy task as access is strictly limited. When we arrived and collected our pre-booked tickets there was a sign they are fully booked for 2 weeks.
The painting is in the old refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie which was closed all day.

You have 15 minutes to explore the painting. The room itself is not spectacular.

Letīs have a closer look:

On the other side is a painting by Giovanni Donato Montorfano.

Bergamo: Venetian defensive systems

Bergamo is part of the UNESCO world Heritage "Venetian Works of Defence between the 16th and 17th centuries: Stato da Terra – western Stato da Mar". You donīt see too much but here some pictures from a walk.

You missed one of the great views from the roof of the Milan Duomo: looking through a gap in the stained glass down at the floor of the cathedral 45 meters below. The viewing spot is not far from where you come onto the roof walkway. You will see the people looking like ants as they walk under the crossing of the cathedral.

Bergamo: Funicolare

You can reach the upper town from the lower town with the Funicolare. The Price is 1,10 € if I remember correctly. Entering was a little bit chaotic as there werenīt enough places and one woman even tried to distract me to go through the gate first….. Unpleasant.

Gelato: La Marianna Bergamo

La Marianna is a pestaurant, patisserie and gelateria in Bergamo. They claim they invented stracciatella gelato in 1961 and to produce it still with a Carpigiani L40 and the original recipe.

The gelato was pretty good but not that special.

We also took a small Polenta and Osei, a speciality from Bergamo.

It was perversely sweet, I couldnīt really eat it.

My Winters in Rome last year

Last year, as the was coming to an end, I and my wife, with my 3 years old son, Tom, planned for a trip for Rome and the Vatican City. Though, we thought of completing our tour of Italy at one go but discarded the idea later on.
Our tour was all good and lit, even when Italy remains quite nippy. The comprehensive guide Spending Winter Holidays in Rome has been of real help to me, crafting my itinerary perfectly to enjoy Rome in its fullest.
Enjoy, if you want to explore Rome glowing with the season's festivities.

Dinner: Casual Bergamo

It was really our last day of the journey and therefore the last dinner. I had choosen Casual by Enrico Bartolini. After GLAM in Venice it was our second Bartolini restaurant. It was also awarded with one Michelin star.
The restaurant is modern, I liked the style.

We took an individual tasting menu. IT was 120,00 € p.p.

The quality was solid 1 star level, I would dine here again. Service was average.
