You missed one of the great views from the roof of the Milan Duomo: looking through a gap in the stained glass down at the floor of the cathedral 45 meters below. The viewing spot is not far from where you come onto the roof walkway. You will see the people looking like ants as they walk under the crossing of the cathedral.
