A great report.

It's super convenient that you can fly directly to Cape Town from the UK, as opposed to having to connect in JNB. It's something that all the Star Alliance carriers can't really get around.

Wine Country is SA is becoming more and more of a destination in itself as each and every report has more and more great food shots!!

Now that exbigblue has moved on, is there anyone else staying at the Eendracht who might be able to provide updates on the chicks’ well-being?

Prehaps I should contact Management?

We left the chicks yesterday morning,he parent bird was sitiing on them, all seemed well.

If this is OK I can report on our experience today on the Franschhoek HOHO .. the Wine Tram.
we visited 5 wineries, and had an excellent lunch on the terrace at Holden Manz winery. We had a good experience

it is VERY hot today >30c

Feel free to use the Thread ... it’s all part of the experience. I used to watch the tram from our terrace, and it seemed compulsory to wave back to the excited tram passengers as they passed the end of the grounds

PS: 30+ is not hot. 40+ in Arizona is quite warm, though!

Great TR which brought back many memories of our trips to the Cape. It has been a few years since we visited but we enjoyed Haute Cabriere and La Petit Ferme ( Sunday Lunch) in Franschhoek.

Oh, joy, this morning (17 Jan) we have managed to snag 2 BA 2-4-1 redemption tickets for a repeat performance in Dec 18. Only £1005 in T&F for 2 in Club World ... today is a GOOD day

Will probably skip CT completely, reverse the route and find somewhere else to add.

Great read I've always fancied a trip to Cape Town, definitely have to add it to the list for the next couple of years! All in all a good route to use to 241 on in your opinion? When I checked a little while back I seem to remember the reward availability was fairly low, assuming my memory is serving me right :P

You really need to hit the reward seats as soon as they're released. BA Redemption Finder is your friend. Our next CPT was found and booked on 17 Jan 18 for outbound 8 Dec 18, returning 23 Dec 18. And you're right - reward seats are snapped up very quickly.

Good use of a 2-4-1? Well, paying £500 each in T&F on a route that usually costs [in J] about £4,000 each seems good to me. And as there is no way we would spend £8k on air tickets, it's the only way we could ever get there!!

My biggest regret was that we only took a day tour of Franschoek and Stellenbosch. We should have stayed at least 1 or 2 nights in each. It was so beautiful. Same for Hermanus where we only had 1 hour.
