I was between contracts at the time so money was tight and had to fly solo - I felt so naked!

I have been solo in Y once... on a QF 737 from SYD-CBR...:D

This was before the number of jet services was drastically curtailed...

Several folks in Business (or First as it's called over there!) but just little ol' me down the back.... took off like a ROCKET!

The fun part was on arrival in CBR... the others all raced off to their taxis/Government cars... I went to the carousel and waited for my bags.... a total of 4 came out... and they were all mine!

No wonder I didn't get pinged for the excess baggage!!!

I've been one of 5 on a 747 ORD-LHR. FAs invited all up into F to make service easier. I think they took turns sacking out upstairs.

I'll just assume that the OP paid something like $20,000 for his ticket, because from what I've read here, AA always cancels flights with low loads. Usually just for fun. If not, just don't also tell me Santa isn't real either.

(closest I ever came was a SAN-RNO flight on AA about 10 years ago, when there were a total of 4 people on board - they let us all sit up front at least)

Many years ago I was the only passenger on a UA 757 from SFO-SJC. The captain and crew gave me great service!!

In March from Mazatlan to LA i was one of ten people on a Mexicana A320.
Prior to departure, I got harassed by the federale next to the gait. He asked why I was in Mexico!

DUH, im on vacation!

About 33 years ago from DTW to MSN I was the only passenger on a Northwest flight (might have been Republic at the time) in a storm. IIRC, it left in the early evening and was one of the roughest flights I've ever been on. Sat in the last row talking to the FA-and it was like riding a rollercoaster back there. Can't remember the type of aircraft though...

Kind of a neat feeling being the only passenger. I asked the pilot on the way out if he's wait for me, as I'd only be a couple of days!

cool...this happened to me once on CX, short haul TPE-HKG. my flight was the last one of the night 11pm but due to some mechanical problem it was way delayed. everyone showed relatively early for the flight and so made it onto another carrier's flight that took off slightly earlier but i was a little late and didn't make it

but i have work the next day...so it's a long 2-3 hr wait but finally when i'm on the plane and realize i'm alone...with a saver econ ticket in hand i ask the crew whether i can sit in first and they agree!

had a good chat with them too

Last year I was on a 752 BOS-MIA with about 5 other pax. All moved to F. One time when a massive delay worked in my favor, 3+ hour delay, do to AA flight notifications, I was the last one to check in, still 1hr before take-off... Almost everyone else scheduled on the flight had been accommodated on the other earlier flights...

Closest I've ever been to having the plane by myself was a DC-10 to Europe with three people. My father and I took the first class section and the other person took all of business class. Was the best flight I've ever been on.

So it looks like the two best ways to get bumped to F is to either be in Y when it's totally subscribed and be a very high elite member, or on an aircraft with no one else on.

I'm just going to avoid those pesky almost full flights.

Cheers Larry.

what kind of service could they deliver in the scant minutes it takes to go from SFO to SJC?!

they probably wouldn't pull the wheels up or decrease flaps if it was going the other way (SJC-SFO)

Earlier this year had an F cabin all to myself. It was light in Y, also but was surprised they didn't bring anyone else forward. And recall a JFK-LHR redeye on a BA 74 about 15-16 years ago I had club class upstairs all to myself. Just me and the wine steward. I told him to leave the bottle and take the night off.

I have questioned AA over the scheduling of this flight. If the flight left about 30 or 40 minutes later, there would be connections from several east coast destinations, including DCA and LGA. The plane then sits on the ground for close to an hour in Bloomington before returning to ORD.
