Perhaps the other passengers who would have been on this flight had heard that the Embraer 120 is not required to survive the catastrophic failure of a single engine. Rather than requiring Embraer to fix the design, the FAA waived the requirement after a crash a few years ago.

Why negative? Fair risk analysis. I agree with Mike, I never fly EMB120. Or Beech 1900.
I've never been the only passenger on a flight but it does sound like it would be pretty cool. |
Me and my buddy were the only people on a early AM LH flight on DEC 26 this past year. FRA-BLQ A320... There was a cabin crew of 4. The let us in C class. We then moved to every seat in the cabin.. why?? well because we could :p
We were told by the crew, the flight back to FRA was over sold. |
Just before 9/11 if was traveling CLE-YYZ on an AC Dash-8 and was the only Passenger. The Pilot let me jump seat after take off, and I had to go back to my seat for final approach.

In 2005 I was the only passenger on a PRG-VIE flight on Austrian. I think it was a Fokker 70.
I was waiting for everyone else to get on the bus before me but no one got up. I thought I’d be the trendsetter and be the first but no one followed. Once on board, the FAs did the safety announcements for me and the empty seats (funny because one FA was standing at the exit row 10 rows behind me doing her announcements). They spoiled me with what confectionaries they had on board and then I was invited by the Captain to watch us descend on Vienna from the cockpit. The view from the cockpit at night just minutes before touchdown over such a beautiful city was amazing! |

About 15 years ago, I flew AA from DFW to MSP during a flight attendent strike. I was the only passenger on the MD-80. The mngmt FAs working the flight spent the whole flight in tears because the cockpit crew had called them scabs and then refused to talk to them. Nice, warm, fuzzy feeling on that flight! |
I was once the only pax in a 2-seat Citabria, a small aerobatic plane. I was in the front seat, pilot (my brother) in the back seat practicing instrument touch-and-goes, hammerheads, and rolls. Quite a memorable flight.
:D |
At least you had an FA ... Twice it happened to me on B1900s, Gulfstream, MIA-TCB and TCB-MIA...

Amazing how you always have something positive to say!
Embraer probably considers that a positive development, but since my vantage point always tends to be as a passenger, I would disagree. |
This has happened to me twice. Once was on a regular DL flight from ATL to either BNA or MEM (can't remember) on a md-88. The plane had to go cuz it had a full load coming back.
The other was Cabo San Lucas (SJD) to ATL on DL 737-800. I was only one in FC with 3 F.A.'s. Why you ask this flight was so empty.......it was Sept 11, 2002. Guess people were a tad nervous to fly on the anniversary. |
I have never been the only person on a flight. I went on my first TATL trip, almost 2 years ago. Flew on LX from ZUR-CDG and FCO-ZUR (took trains from CDG to FCO), both on A319's. I'd say that on both flights, the plane was less than half full.
I had flights with US just over a year ago. Looked on the seat map for those flights. There were 100+ seats empty on a 757. That was 2 or 3 weeks in advance of that date. Somehow in those 3 or 4 weeks, that flight got full. |

I was one of 5 on a new (only flown once prior with PAX) Airbus 320 (320 I think; seats were two three two) - RSW to YYZ on Canada 3000. Another airline that didn't last long.

I've never been the only one, but close.
November 2001 -- CAE-CVG -- 1 of 2 on a Comair CRJ Jan 15, 2006 -- ATL-SJD -- On the way to our honeymoon with SkySaver tickets booked in Coach, my wife and I were 2 of 14 on a 767. Everyone was upgraded to Business class! ^ I wrote about each of these in Travelbuzz! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...-yourself.html |
One more:
In 2008, I was the only one in the F cabin on a Lufthansa A330. OK, technically it doesn`t count, but after the curtins were all shut and the lunch was finished, I had the cabin all to myself since the FA`s moved to J to help out. IIRC, I ate in 1A, slept in 2A and worked in 2K :) |
Never on a major airline but many times on small regional airlines in various places in the Caribbean. Always with my wife though. The fun part it she often gets to sit up front in the co-pilot's seat while I am in the cargo area - gotta balance the plane out some how :D.
