Where in this country is it written that any of us has the right not to be offended?? This is getting downright sickening.

I would have probably complained loudly over this just to make a point but then again I have been known to cause trouble from time to time

Not to condone what this prude did in any way...but flying east couple of weeks ago and I think it was "Because I Said So" was playing...and the portion that they played for the freebie preview over the PA was a series of conversations along the lines of:

"Did you have sex with her?"

"I wanted to have sex with her!"

And so on...I really DID think it was inappropriate. Not for me, but for someone with a 6-7 year old on the flight? I wouldn't want my kid to be exposed to this during a preview. Not to the point that I'd ask them to turn it off, but I did notice it...

I was on a flight last week and was startled (because it was an airline movie) to hear a couple of "four-letter words" in the dialog of the movie.

I know the four letter words are typically removed from the airline versions. I am also especially surprised to hear that there was a conversation mentioning sex in the preview / promo, that is very surprising. Interesting, I wonder whether maybe things are being relaxed a bit. Although I'm not easily offended I am in favor of keeping things on board clean for the kiddies, and for those who believe that just about everything is immoral.

I was actually watching a Sex and the City episode on DVD on my laptop and was startled when more than I was expecting was revealed. I was in a First Class window seat on a narrowbody and became concerned that somebody's grandmother in the aisle seat behind me (peering between my slightly reclined seatback and my seatmates unreclined seatback) may have seen a little more than she may have wanted for that brief moment.

As this thread seems more than just Delta-related, I am moving it over to TravelBuzz.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm probably the last person on earth to comment on parenting.

I vehemently disagree with your position. Where the heck are the parents in your equation and why aren't they paying attention to what their 6 or 7 year old is watching?

I'll never understand the mentality of TV as parental substitute

What about the rest of the passengers. The FA should have just said it's been approved by headquarters for public viewing, so just ignore it if it does not interest you. UGH, hate these selfish people.

If only I'd known it was that easy. Think of all the episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond" I wouldn't have had to watch!

(For the humor impaired: Yes, I know I didn't really have to watch them.)

I think you missed some information in the post you are commenting on. ColumbiaPete was not discussing a situation where kids were left alone with a TV, or allowed to watch a specific show without parental vetting/supervision. He was discussing language he thought might be inapropriate for children that was part of a movie preview shown on a plane with audio put out over the planes PA.

That's the group with ties to terrorism that supports the "flying Imams" lawsuit against US Airways.

Hmmm their website seems to call on people to condemn terrorism and violence

Actually I support suing busy-body passengers who stick their noses in other people's business or tattle on them - but in this case, I think the FA should have just used his/her skills to demonstrate to the offended passenger how to remove the headphones and look away from the screen. Problem solved.

Thanks for clarifying, Clarence - That was exactly the situation, the language was on the PA. No one had a choice NOT to listen to it!
