Good thought. I don't think its so long these days, but does seem ridiculous. Considering the amount of traffic Tan Son Nhut gets, the amount of taxiing seems crazy. My (wrong) theory is that after the war, as runways crumbled, they'd simply move to ones further out that are still OK. Another theory (probably wrong too) is that they make planes taxi alot so you "feel" you've arrived at a big airport. You can still see some of the blast-proof hangers generously coated in thick lichen as you trundle by.

How about Indianapolis? Landing on the new runways there, until the new midfield terminal is complete, is a very very long taxi! Usually 15-20 minutes.

Another vote for DFW

I'm going to assume by taxi "time" the OP means taxi "distance"! Real "time" isn't fair; traffic congestion and gate waits have not too much to do with the size of an airfield.

At DFW your landing runway inevitably is related to the direction of arrival, and you gate is determined by the random movements of some squirrels in the deep basement of the D Terminal. Arrive from the west and you'll get the western most runway, maybe the SE facing diagonal if you're lucky. But, by god, your gate will be on the far east side in Terminal C!

Must be 3 miles of taxiing ... and two bridges. Then you still get to wait, within sight of your gate, in "real time", for either the previous plane to vacate or the gate crew to arrive ... <sigh> welcome to dfw.

Polderbaan... Going from D to the PB is terrible.. You have to pretty much go all the way around the entire airport till you even get to the highway overpass...

Definitely DFW.

If they hadn't made the airport all one city and instead you had to count the cities you would logically drive through, you often land in Euless and then drive through Grapevine and Coppell before ending up in Irving.

I agree about Indy. But, here in Canada, we definitely have the longest taxi times, because they repeat all the pre-flight safety instructions in French. So, it's almost as though they're taxi-ing around just to kill time!

been lucky at AMS, never used the runway at the far end.

LHR - just long lqueues.

JFK could be worse during the evening rush hour, but its not very far in
terms of the distance.
EWR's physical length of taxi is not that long but I have been stuck in a queue for 45 minutes on a beautiful day with almost calm wind almost right down the runway just with the lack of a crosswind runway. At ORD they can slingshot those things out a couple runways at once. Landing taxi I have gone most of the way to Schaumburg beore turning back towards the terminals.

Throw another log onto the 'AMS fire'.
