Tumi repairs
The shoulder strap connector has fallen to pieces (sping has come out) on my Tumi leather laptop bag. I've taken a look at the website and it states that all goods returned to Tumi must be accompanied by a proof of purchase receipt.
I bought this bag about 16 months ago in Boston and can't find the receipt anywhere. Is it likely to matter i.e. will it be more than the usual $15 processing fee? The repair centre is closed in the UK until Monday.
Thanks

Don't know. I have a Tumi nylon ballistic nylon briefcase. The hook on the Tumi shoulder strap somehow penetrated the ballistic nylon. It did not cut the nylon fibers but left a hole. I called Tumi and they said it wasn't their problem. Briggs & Riley would have fixed it without question. So, you should check to see whether they deem that this would be covered under the warranty. With respect to the receipt, can you find the entry on your credit card statement? That might suffice, or you might be able to get the store to find their records.
I was surprised and annoyed at their response to my problem. So, they've lost a customer. I'll never buy a Tumi product. In fact, I've purchased several suitcases since then and did not consider Tumi.

That's interesting. I've suffered a similar problem with the hook on the strap of the aforementioned laptop bag. It has cut into the lining on the inside and worn away part of the leather on the outside. Not good.

I was also so dissatisfied with Tumi repair that I won't buy Tumi luggage anymore. I bought one of their early day packs and the shoulder strap seam was improperly stitched and came apart. I had a very big hassle with Tumi (I did have the sales slip; the bag was only a few months old; they said they couldn't repair, no longer manufactured, wanted me to pay the difference for a more expensive (and heavier, leather) version. I used a large safety pin to hold the strap on and tell the story to anyone who asks!)
I think Tumi design is beautiful, most items are also functional, the two I've had have been quality materials poorly assembled.
