Hmmm, seems like a lot of people are still counting England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland as separate countries.

I could inflate my count that way too!

Yeah - but try not paying British TAXES if you live in Scotland or Wales.

I am at about 130 different countries on vacation and all continents (even crossed the Antarctic Circle - 1st person this century!) - and last time I checked the thread this is about the leader right now. I did really stop counting after 100 though.

I have a few pretty left field countries not on too many other lists here like Vietnam (3 times) Falkland Islands, Cuba, Federated States of Micronesia, Laos, Greenland, Iceland, Jordan, Bulgaria, Haiti, Botswana, Guatemala, Swaziland, Cambodia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Antigua, Romania, Fiji, Zimbabwe, Paraguay, Morocco, Trinidad, Norway, Papua New Guinea, (twice) Tonga, British Antarctic Territory, Russia (twice) Nepal, Panama, Zambia (twice) Puerto Rico (twice) Bolivia etc.

And also some pretty off beat parts of countries like Galapagos Islands, Newfoundland, Point Barrow Alaska, and South Point Hawaii (most southern and northern USA points) Easter Island (twice) The Amazonia (6 times from 4 countries) Victoria Falls (twice) Iguassu Falls (3 times - and all for Xmas day!) Arctic Circle Finland for Xmas Day, Columbia, Guam, (10 times) Tasmania (HA!) Thursday Islands, Kalahari Desert, Johnson Island, Tierra Del Fuego, Prince Edward Island, the Taj Mahal, Kilauea Volcano (last month) Macchu Picchu (twice) Mount McKinley, Mount Kiliminjaro, Mount Everest, Mount Fuji, Mount Rigi, etc.

My list (excluding airport transits):
1 Australia
2 Belgium
3 Botswana
4 Canada
5 Cook Islands
6 Denmark
7 Egypt
8 Fiji
9 France
10 Germany
11 Greece
12 Hong Kong
13 Italy
14 Japan
15 Kenya
16 Lesotho
17 Malawi
18 Mozambique
19 Namibia
20 Netherlands
21 New Zealand
22 Seychelles
23 Singapore
24 South Africa
25 Spain
26 Swaziland
27 Sweden
28 Switzerland
29 Tanzania
30 Thailand
31 United Kingdom
32 USA
33 Vatican City
34 Zambia
35 Zimbabwe

My unofficial goal has been to keep the number of countries visited higher than the number of years I've been on the planet... still managing that but I don't have too much time to rest on my laurels.

On a side note, I've managed to go to over half the states of the USA, which I think is quite respectable considering I've only ever visited the place 4 times...

[edited to add Vatican City, since that seems to be an officially recognised country in the list posted at the start of the thread - phew, gives me a bit more wiggle room]

I thought I was the only one with this goal Unfortunately I started late so only just getting ahead of my age. Will have to come up with a new goal methinks as a new country a year is fairly easy (until getting really big numbers).
