Incorrect, my friend! The Camptown Race Song is from central Virginia - just outside Ashland, Virginia.

Camptown Races:

Telephone: 804-752-6678

Who hasn't sung Camptown Races" with its race track five miles long, oh, de doo-da day." Camptown Races will be held on May 12 this year at Graymount Park, which is two miles north of Ashland, Virginia. These thoroughbred flat races are always held on the second Saturday in May.

I understand that this is what they claim, George, but so doth they swear at Camptown, Pennsylvania.

Sigh. Who can we believe these days

A Virginia Gentleman never tells an untruth!

Also, isn't there some town in central PA where the place literally boils and bubbles and emits funny gasses due to some odd natural phenominon???

richard, you were actually correct in your original thought there indeed is also a Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

Blue Bell, located within the Philadelphia metropolitan area north of Philadelphia near Norristown, is virtually due east of Blue Ball, which is in Pennsylvania Amish country.

Both towns are approximately 40 miles apart from each other.

Probably the Amish...there aren't too many compelling other places to visit in this area, apparently!

Visit the Christmas Museum in Paradise (off route 30). It sounds corny but is really quite darling. There are also some very good restaurants in Lancaster (I go there on business and was much surprised).

Sesame Place on I95 between Philadelphia and Trenton. Take your bathing suit; many of the rides and attractions feature water.

Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA is almost in Delaware but if you want to go that far from Camptown you will be enchanted.

This activity might not be as popular in the future due to serious repercussions, according to the warning issued by legislature of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The warning states that cows must report their tips as income.

Visit Bushkill Falls in the Delaware Water Gap recreational area. Beautiful waterfalls and great hiking.

I think this post is better listed in the 'tipping' thread.

BTW -- How much do you tip a cow? I usually go with the standard 15-20%, unless they have their hoof out for more. But I have also heard some tip as much as 30%, but I think that is bull.
