I have to agree with SRQ Guy on the beach from Quepos south to Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica. I've walked most of it. Stunningly beautiful.

Other personal favorites:

Laguna Beach, California
Asilomar, Monterey Peninsula, California
Ano Nuevo State Park (complete with elephant seals), San Mateo County Coast, California
Megan's Bay, St. Thomas

Agreed on Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. This is a national park - to preserve this most beautiful beach.

My vote goes to Koh NangYuan in Thailand...just off of Koh Tao in the South China Sea, about 20 miles north of Koh Samui. AMAZING PLACE.

Favorite City Beach for me is Clifton Beach Capetown - even though its usually too bloody cold in the water to swim, the physical beauty (both of the backdrop and the Capetonians!!!) beats anything I've seen elsewhere.

Hedoman..You have got to be kidding...I grew up at Edgewater Park in Cleveland, Ohio and it has been a long time since I have seen it, but in the last 10 years I guess they cleaned it up.

MRKEY, perhaps we were born about the same time. Have not seen it for ten years either. And of course, I am kidding.

Agree with a previous posting. There are many, many (but not tooooo many) beautiful beaches on this planet.

Hedoman- I was born in'51 and left cleveland for the sunny Palm Beach area in '82. They have cleaned it up and they say the fish are now suitable for consumtion. I meant that their are too many beaches I need to see. I have been globe-trotting for the past 30 years and the more I see, I realize that there is more I haven't seen. With Jet-A in my blood and my second 1,000,000 miles EXP AA status, I do believe I am addicted to the exploration of our planet. (actually I grew up in Shaker Heights)

Agree that I like Turtle Beach at Caneel Bay, St. John USVI, and the beaches of Maui - but my absolute favorite is either on Palfrey Island or South Island in the Blue Lagoon just off of Lizard Island, Far North Queensland, Australia. Private, secluded, amazing reef, and a short skiff ride back to our room on Lizard!
