Most beautiful beach

Is anyone interested in a most beautiful beach thread? I will start and see if anyone follows:

The Craal, Virgin Gorda
Valley Trunk Bay, Virgin Gorda
Wianapnapa State Park, Maui- Black sand beach
Red Sand Beach, Hana Maui
Guana Cay, Abacos, Bahamas
Naxos's many uncrowded beaches, Cyclades
Honeymoon Beach, Moskito Island BVI
Necker Island, BVI (in the old days before Branson's guard dogs took over the beach)
Olympic National Park Seashore
The Marginal Way, Ogunquit, Maine
The Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
I had better stop- I think I am in a wish I were on a beach mode

Not very exotic but still nice,

Even though I live here in GCM, 7 mile beach is just not my favourite (actually, it's 5.5 miles long). Back in the early 80's before massive development started in Cancun, it had one of the most beautiful strips of white sand I had ever seen.

Nowadays, lots of travellers are noting to me that many of the Cuban beaches are quite outstanding (Cayo Coco, Cayo Largo), although technically not reachable by US citizens. As for other parts of the world, you simply can't beat some of the remote beaches in Micronesia and Polynesia. Was in a secluded part of Bali last year (sorry but I don't remember the name) that was just incredibly exotic, with the backdrop of the mountains of Java blending into the sea.

I just love Napili Bay on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Calm, warm gentle water. Softest sand in the world without a pebble, but just out about 40 feet into the water some of the greatest reef snorkeling/scuba diving around. And your view out to sea are the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i being kissed by a few lonely clouds.

And if you get hungry, you can just pop up to the bar at the wonderful Napili Kai Beach Club for great food, drinks, hospitality and view!

Was just there for a few nights last week and I miss it already!

I love all the Pacific beaches along north and south America. You can go from Alaska down to Chile and see purely wonderful beaches with rare spots of human habitation.

So my choice is an 8000-mile stretch of beach. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

OBVIOUSLY - Orchard Beach, the Bronx!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Premex, Napili Bay is a good one. I am partial to beaches with mountain backdrops and good reefs. Orchard beach lacks some essential elements, msb.

On a more serious note, 4 Mile Beach, Port Douglas, Australia is rather nice - where the beach meets the rain forest - just watch out for the salties (crocs) and stingers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

Fraser Island's Eastern Beach is beautiful - the drawback is you can't get into the water because of all the tiger sharks. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

A safer, calmer place would be Turtle Bay, St. John, USVI.

Negril, Jamacia circa 1980. Today it is spoiled by its own beauty (and resultant popularity).

Bonaire, not so much for the beach itself as for the scuba right off of the beach.

The most beautiful beach I've ever seen is right outside Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica... That whole stretch from Quepos down to the park is outstanding... The beaches WITHIN th epark are even more spectacular... Incredible coves where the rainforest goes right to the water's edge.... Amazing.

Just one of my favorites is Dawn Beach in Saint Maarten.

Atacames, Ecuador. Has anyone been there in recent years?

stimpy Sep 28, 2000 11:34 am

Actually, since the Earth is 2/3 water, there's a heck of a lot of beach out there and it's almost all good. It would be easier to list the bad beaches than the good.

Anyone been to the beaches in Greenland in the summer? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
