My favorite beaches are Hamilton Island, Queensland (just drop dead gorgeous!), Kapalua on Maui, Waikoloa Beach near Kona, Shoal Bay in Anguilla, and I'm quire partial to Montauk Point, New York. What's the general impression with Tenerife?

Glenngpr, As a former south shore Long Islander, it took me many, many years of travelling to find beaches more beautiful than those at home. There are few places with beaches as wide with sand as white. But my love for the beach has continued and now that I live in land locked Northern Va, I crave the beach and still search for another beautiful spot. I have not been to Mantauk in many years, but I used to love to spend the day at the beach and in the afternoon go to the docks and wait for the fishing boats to return with swordfish and shark and then grill the best swordfish for dinner.

Didn't anybody think to mention Oak Street Beach in Chicago? Actually, many of you would be surprised.
|
People mention white or sugar sand, but I've never seen it whiter than it is along the FL panhandle. I'll mention Mexico Beach (east of Panama City and the definition of a sleepy little beach town) and Cape San Blas.
Also Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan: waterfalls, weird rock formations, and towering sand dunes. Regrettably Lake Superior is almost always too cold to swim in. |
Dreaming about vacation, and thought that I would revivethis very old thread. My favorites are;
Devil's Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI Trunk Bay, St. John, USVI Magen's Bay, St. Thomas, USVI |
My favorites are:
Makena Beach (Big and Little),Maui Grand Saline, St.Barts Super Paradise, Mykonos |
St. Maarten has the most beuatiful beaches i've ever seen.

cactuspete you are teasing me with virgin gorda thoughts.

Manley Beach near Sydney is also a great urban beach. Ft. Desoto park at the tip of ST. Pete is a beautiful get-away from the condo crowded beaches. Luquillo Beach in Puerto Rico is my fav caribbean beach. For desolation, Mai Khao beach in Phuket (9 miles long, only one building on it), or the various beaches around Lizard Island in the Great Barrier Reef. |

|
ok so if i were to make a best beaches tour where should i go thailand, greek isles, caribean, mediteranean any where else??
|
Agree that the beaches in the Seychelles are spectacular. Re: how to use miles to get to Seychelles: I flew BA non-stop from London. Believe AF flies CDG to Mahe, so perhaps, DL miles using AF codeshare would get you to the Seychelles. Good luck.
