Friendly Cities (where are they)
After months of dealing with extremely difficult people here in Washington D.C., which has to be the most unfriendly place on earth, I want to visit the City with the nicest people.
I need the advice of the Flyer talk community. Where are the nicest (friendly) people in the United States?

To me every city has loads of friendly people, even New York! They aren't hard to find if you look. However I've found that friendly people are much easier to find outside the U.S.
Most American's won't believe me that the friendliest people are often found in the Middle East. Most American's watch too much TV.

I have been here all my life, and it surprises me how rude people are when I go to the lower 48. I am just not use to it. Please, no offense to anyonethere are nice people everywhere. Maybe we just take it a little easier up here. I have been to half the states and I can tell you it is different here. I have been to Washington D.C. too, and I know what you mean. In Alaska, if your car breaks down you will have 10 people stop to helpjust little things like that. People in Alaska pride themselves of being friendly. Everyone that I have met that has moved here, are always astounded by how friendly people are. They dont know what to do when everyone says hi when theyre walking down the street. Plus you can see moose walking down the road!

I'll have to put my vote in for the LA area, especially Santa Monica. I have struck up more conversations with strangers in line at the post office that at any previous time (the conversations in other cities are generally about how slow the line is moving--haven't heard that here once). It seems to be less hectic here, unless you have to spend much time in your car in traffic. Then people change...
I think you find good and bad everywhere. Perhaps in sunnier climes people are sunnier.

As a lifelong New Yorker, I think the friendliest people are right here!
By the way, if your car should break down on the street here, not only will people offer to help you, some will offer to disassemble it for you! How's that for service?

Ditto belle. I keep looking for a grumpy, grouchy or rude Canadian. Haven't found one yet.

bunchargum, Go West...
There friendly people most places in the US - not the least in NYC - but for widespread and consistent friendliness, San Diego gets my vote, too.
Honorable mentions: Honolulu, Albuquerque, PHX/Tucson, LA, Spokane.

Canadians are definitely some of the friendliest people around!
I lived in Nashville for a little while and found the people there to be particularly friendly.

My vote goes to Canada. So far I've been to Victoria and Vancouver in BC, Montreal and Toronto.
I am generalizing here but it seems to me that people are friendlier as you go further west. My favorite city is VANCOUVER. Majestic location, breathtaking scenery and nice people.
In the US, SEATTLE is the place with the friendliest people, IMHO.
