Greenpoints DID IT AGAIN!

If I am not mistaken, wasn't Greenpoints ORIGINAL REDEMPTION OFFER for the American air/Delta/Alaska 500-mile certificates for 2500 miles???

Well checking on the site, I now see they DOUBLED THE POINTS NEEDED TO 5000 POINTS!!!

If I am NOT mistaken, didn't Greenpoints do this before and then flip-flopped??

THis makes me angry with this program.

What would have been more considerate is giving the members ADVANCED NOTICE OF THE CHANGE. LIKE "we are raising redemption levels for some awards and you have (insert amount of days/weeks/months) to redemn at the current level.

Of course, there MAY be a rule that states that they have the right to change the program at any time. It would have been better customer service to give SOME ADVANCE NOTICE so I can redemn points and then get out of the program (which I now plan to do.)

Impressions??

Doesn't this belong in S.P.A.M.?

Once burnt, twice learnt.

After the debacle last month, I "cashed" out and ran while I could. I ordered certs at the 2500 per price. I haven't yet received them. I hope I do.

Here's the thread from last month. It contains Greenpoints contact information: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/002798.html

I dont believe this belongs in SPAM. This is not a chain or a referal bonus program.

I have again written to Greenpoints as well as the person in charge of their public relations.

I do have to respectfully agree with UpgradeMe... This topic does belong in the SPAM category.

The definition of that category is "Sites with Points and Alternative Miles, including referral bonuses, congas, MyPoints, ClickRewards and AllAdvantage" and I would say that this does fit that bill, this is a message about a problem that you are having with a site that has Points and Alternative Miles....

Tolarian Wind - GreenPoints is very similiar to ClickRewards or MyPoints and both of them are in the SPAM group.

Catman - this kind of reminds me of our previous discussion on where things belong... see: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum94/HTML/001495.html

(Note: With all that said, I do fully concur, it is very bad business practice on GreenPoints part to just change the terms without any notification)

Sorry for the duplication, but I just posted this same information under S.P.A.M. It never occurred to me that it could have been here in "General Travel Talk."

I just checked and the certificate redemptions are at 2500... not only that but there was a new 500 mile survey that allowed me to reach the next round 2500 for another certificate. I cashed them out while the cashin' was good, and that is the end of my association with Greenpoints.

I believe someone from greenpoints.com posted a mea culpa in the greenpoints thread in The Buzz.

Steve100- Actually I think you and Upgrade me are actually in complete agreement!

And I too concur- for what little it's worth!

Perhapw even OMNI, maybe!

But remember, the Cat does NOT visit the "S.P.A.M." section!

Got to remain above the fray!

I'm getting a bad headache.

Now if I'm reading Greenpoints right, they flip flopped again and went back to the 2500 a certificate redemption for 500 miles.

Ok, now GreenPoints PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE THIS ALONE!!

Thank you.
