If Rhode Island has room for two airports to fly back and forth between...where do they put the residents of the state? :D :D :D
|
As far as RI is concerned, I'd guess that BID was involved. Maybe PVD-BID or even WST-BID, though I'm not sure that WST has or has ever had commercial service.

departedflights.com says it did ;)

Well there you have it.

RI made JayhawkCO list https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35013867-post12.html so we didn't discuss it in the other thread (i.e. focus was on the remaining states). But, I must admit that I was curious about RI.
I love this quote from the New England Airlines wiki page: "The airline is noted for its provision of cargo delivery services, including Chinese food (and other restaurant orders) delivered from the mainland to the Block Island airport in as little as 90 minutes" |
Back in 2009, B6 had just entered the BOS-LAX/BOS-SFO markets, and AA/UA were defending their turf. AA combined a 2x elite miles and 3x miles offer with $79 one way transcon fares - right after I had been laid off. So, I booked and flew 2 r/t's. But the LAX-BOS-LAX connection on a redeye didn't work, and the only widebody BOS-LAX was the early morning flight, so I routed LAX-SFO-BOS-LAX (and got extra for the LAX-SFO segment of course). A bunch of us made this into a "mini-Do", complete with lounge meetups, etc.
The 2nd trip, we had a great FA crew on the SFO-BOS flight. After we explained what we were doing, we actually got them to make the connecting gate announcement that the LAX flight was at gate whatever. The 11 of us doing the weird turn cheered, while most of the rest of the plane laughed at the idiots who were flying SFO-BOS-LAX. |

MI - 10 DTW—> LAN,MBS,FNT,AZO,GRR / Muskegon, Traverse City, Marquette. What one am I missing. But seriously why? All of these connect in Detroit, right? GRR, AZO, LAN, FNT it has to be faster to drive to DTW vs flying. (I mean total time, drive to airport, park, wait, fly to Detroit, wait for connection, fly to next destination). AZO and GRR have flights to Chicago and that sort of makes sense vs driving for connecting on to the rest of the world. |

Here are nonstop flight destinations within Michigan from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) as of September 2021: 1. Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) - Grand Rapids, MI 2. Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) - Traverse City, MI 3. Pellston Regional Airport (PLN) - Pellston, MI 4. Bishop International Airport (FNT) - Flint, MI 5. MBS International Airport (MBS) - Saginaw, MI 6. Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) - Kalamazoo, MI 7. Alpena County Regional Airport (APN) - Alpena, MI 8. Houghton County Memorial Airport (CMX) - Hancock, MI 9. Chippewa County International Airport (CIU) - Sault Ste. Marie, MI 10. Ford Airport (IMT) - Iron Mountain, MI |
Don't trust GPT with facts. A quick glance through Wikipedia shows that DTW-FNT and DTW-CMX don't exist. They should be replaced with DTW-ESC and DTW-LAN.
You did guess the number of EAS routes correctly -- exactly five. |
Wow, you can book APN-PLN today for $82.
I sort of want to do this….because.. *************** CMX only flies to ORD |

You did guess the number of EAS routes correctly -- exactly five. Delaware (the highest fruit), by contrast, has proven to be impossible (even if we go back 100 years) to fetch for many of us. |

While it's true that you need to press it for several rounds in order to get good results (and, I only did two iterations), I have no reason to doubt that DTW-FNT wasn't a thing two years ago.

What's kind of wild (and sad) about PIT-PHL is it costs about the same price to drive the route via the PA Turnpike (factoring in car mileage/deprecation and the $34 EZ Pass Toll [$70 without EZ Pass] ) as an average nonstop flight via AA for the route ~ $240. So it comes down to a time vs. money and convenience decision if making this trip.

There's a post up thread that suggests RI currently has intra-state flights, so in https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trav...iscussion.html we tried to figure out which of the states identified (in the same post) with no flights most recently did have flights (some still do). Delaware was the ONLY one that we couldn't crack at all (i.e. not even some random Cessna Bobcat route from 80 years ago).
All American Airways once had a Philadelphia-DC seasonal service with stops in Wilmington, Dover, Rehoboth Beach, and Georgetown (with a Cape May stop between Dover and Rehoboth). https://www.timetableimages.com/ttim...l49/al49-2.jpg |
