Have to say that there is something rather strange about the demographics of the passengers on that flight, only time that I’ve been on a plane that came close to having a vaguely similar looking cohort was when I’ve travelled with Formula One teams on chartered flights.
As for what one might encounter in a normal setting: I accompanied my daughter to the British Library yesterday and on the bus a group of French students boarded, they were in their later teens. One sat down in front of us, aimed her phone at her face (she had turned so it was aimed at the window, we got a ringside seat of her in profile) and proceeded to film herself with the speaker playing French rap while she lip synched and animated her head and shoulders into a “show”. Behind her through the filthy glass was a peculiarly uninspiring landscape of run down charity(goodwill) shops. My daughter could barely handle the cringe and wondered how long it would be before this girl’s inevitable embarrassment and regret kicked in. My own eyebrow was arched at seeing how reticent their chaperones (teachers?) were to intervening. I guess they have a war to survive and have learned to ignore and avoid the ridiculous fringe battles. My kid explained that since TikTok has made creating and uploading content so straightforward it has fostered the notion in too many (generally young) people that absolutely anything they do is interesting as long as there is music in the background. She says it makes being at school intensely annoying. |
Well it looks like it's all kicking off with JCs You Tube channel again. Big fall out with Indonesian airline with serious claims being made on both sides

Not sure who JC is or what happened, or if I'm supposed to care  But sounds like typical vlogger drama.

JC = Josh Cahill. A vlogger who generates his own drama and then bemoans about it.

But there's only so many flights and airlines you can cover before the content gets repetitive. He's opted into manufacturing drama to get clicks as opposed to, say, branching his video reviews out to hotels or things to do in these exotic places. I don't know how much of his story to believe but I'd be really surprised if the truth wasn't stretched a bit with this whole passport and bribe fiasco. |

Filming boarding on Airlines with small camera
How do other YouTubers get away with this? I've decided to start vlogging my airplane travel, as I go to some unique destinations for work. I tried to film my boarding procedure but got told to stop and delete footage by a FA. Yet, I see plenty of youtubers filming their boarding procedure with no issue. This was American Airlines. I really want to get into this sub-niche of aviation youtubing, but I do not want to cause myself extra grief with the airlines.
(I would never film other pax or FAs. Just B roll of walking on, etc. And please save your "vloggers are annoying" commentary for elsewhere. I'm asking for help to be less intrusive.) |

Photography / photograph / videography restrictions on AA (consolidated) Take Your Seat, The 'No Photography' Sign Is Lit "The use of still and video cameras, film or digital, is permitted only for recording of personal events. IMO, OP? You're probably just "old"; the YTers are likely mostly young and get a pass 🤷♂️

So in the end who is the winner or looser? Surely JC would be take it as a win?

This is a common rule in many places and with many airlines - you're generally not supposed to film airline/airport operations. (And definitely not security, immigration, or customs operations.) They have the right to tell you to stop and often do. Of course, people snapping normal travel photos with their phones - of their friends or the airplane itself - no big deal, you won't get hassled for that. But somebody shooting video of the boarding process is probably going to attract attention. And FWIW I fly a lot and don't see people doing this and getting away with it. If it is happening, then they are concealing it well enough to not get caught. |
Are there not tiny, little micro-cameras that one can clip inconspicuously to a blouse or shirt? It probably helps if the clothing is the same color as the camera.
