On a UA flight about 10yrs ago I sat next to a guy that was 7'1". I was in the exit row seat on a 757 right by 2L. Even then the guy's legs stretched out to almost the bulkhead.

Everything was pretty comical about it. He got a coffee and the large styrofoam cup looked like a thumble in his palms, plus of course him doubling over to fit into the lav.

He seemed quite a chatty fellow and even though I normally never talk to seatmates we had a pretty good flight chatting for the two or three hours aloft. I did only ask him one question about his height...what does he do when he can't get an exit row and did his employer (he was on a business trip) allow him to book premium cabins. No, was the answer, he pretty much relied on a friendly gate agent or paying for it. At that height even domestic F would be uncomfortable.

I'm only 6", but I have long legs. The cost of extra legroom or an exit row has just become an expense that I consider as part of the ticket. I simply don't fit into normal economy seats without having my knees touching the seat in front.

I was sat next to a guy on a flight back to Manchester from Chicago last year who must've been at least 6"7; this was in MCE and he still didn't have enough room. The FA took pity on him and moved him to an empty bulkhead seat.

High class problem.

I'm lucky I can afford to sit in the better seats.

I'm tall and spent a lot of time in Japan so airplanes are just the start.

All that said, society makes a lot of accommodations for people with different physical conditions. I kind of feel like the airlines should make an effort to accommodate taller passengers in exit rows or premium economy when available.

No way. You want those seats, you pay for them.

C'mon Flyertalk, it shouldn't take 2 1/2 hours for us to respond with this!!

If you're too tall for E+, then book a private jet. (The thread isn't complete without this response, either. )
