I met an actual Nigerian today. As far as I can tell he didn't try to scam me.
Just saying.

I'm onto my 6th Banco Popular card in the past 3 years, with #7 on the way. Uusally they're pretty good about catching them, but not the most recent one - I called in when a transaction was declined, and had to do it as a dispute.
1- Ikea in the Dominican Republic
2- furniture store in Paris
3- Apple Store in Miami Beach
4- Don't recall
5- Car Rental and Hotel in Martinique
6- Don't recall
7- Walgreens and CVS Shopping Spree in Chicago (most recent)

I used my debit card at a Whole Foods in Seattle.
Next morning I get a call: "Are you in Liberia or Arkansas?"
Me - "Huh? Who is this?"
Caller: "National Bank of Arizona. You have two charges pending - one at a hotel in Arkansas and one at a store in Liberia."
Me: "Nope. I'm in Seattle."
Bank: "Oh. That explains it. We're canceling your card. You'll have a new one when you get home."
He never explained why "that explains it." But my takeaway was they get a lot of that activity in good Ol' Seattle. I s'pose any city where everyone wants to be Bill Gates may not be a good place to be randomly swiping cards! Now when I go up there and to any major city, I just take along a couple of gift cards. They steal that info, no permanent damage.
