Name on ticket is right but wrong order?
Hi
Im flying to frankfurt in a month and a bit , and then from frankfurt to vilnius, lithuania and for some reason i dont know, air canada issued my tickets (used aeroplan to get my tickets from fra to vno) with just MY name in the wrong order (my wife and kids name are in the right order).
Let me explain, i know air tickets are issued to Last Name/First Name but mine has been issued the other way (First Name/Last Name).
I called air canada and they said its my error (ok could be but this is the first time i have made such mistake so im still in doubt) , i explained and explained but no, no way. Only way was to drop the booking, pay a fee and rebook again (im not paying CAD 300 no way!).
So then i asked: is this really a big issue? They said "not sure you better call lufthansa since you will be flying with them" alright, my wife speaks german so we called directly to lufthansa germany (we live in south america) and explained, they noticed the error but they said "well..you are european you wont have problems but your husband... He's not so i cant really tell if this will be a big issue or not sorry"
So right now im here sitting on my bed thinking about this problem and how it will possible ruin my trip. Do you people believe this is really a big issue in europe in particular? Im arriving to frankfurt from south america with all my docs (visa and air ticket) in order, will stay in frankfurt 2 days then flight to vilnius.
Im just not sure why people from airlines cant give me a nice answer regarding a little problem which i guess happens to thousand of honest people every day.
Any help will be appreciated, if you ever happened to be in my situation please advice me
Regards
Julio

Sir , thank you for your answer. I just wonder why airlines cant say it as you did.
One quick and last question: is it normal that after i booked a flight i was never asked for my id number? From south america to frankfurt my itinerary includes my name and passport number but this other itinerary from fra to vno doesnt include (nor asked for it) anything, just our names. Is this normal?

I had the same issue on a CX flight, was debated on here at some point, but in the end I chose to pay the 150 to change the name because the airline would not commit to allowing me to board with the name reversed.

I was going JFK-HKG-BKK
Considering what I was spending on the ticket, the last thing I wanted to do was have a problem when I got to the airport.

Wuld it be a good idea to contact the airport instead and ask regarding this matter? Or thats just a crazy idea?

Same thing happened to me with Garuda. Call to Indonesia made, with reservation agent saying "No Problem." She made note in reservation profile. Not completely trusting the agent, I called the American sales office, and they confirmed the lack of a problem and the agent's note in file.

If they don't want to post a "No Problem" note in your reservation, at least they can document that you immediately called to inform them of the mistake...

There are less problems by not worrying about it than there are when seeking a solution to the situation.

There is no way to predict the order in which Asian names will appear on a ticket. Airlines and everyone else are used to this, so it's not a problem even if your name isn't Asian. It would have to be messed up much worse than this for it to cause a problem. (Mine was messed up worse than this once, on a trip that took me through three Indian airports as well as Tokyo, Singapore and several U.S. airports, and nobody batted an eyelash. The only problem was telling check-in agents what name they'd have to look under to find me.)
