23. Even though Guadalajara is Mexico’s 2nd largest city, it had only three flights – one each – to three different cities in the United States. Each of these flights was operated by a different airline with different types of equipment. Identify the airlines, the routes and the aircraft used.[/b]
(We have AeroMexico D9S to IAH, and Mexicana's Comet IV to SAT. Need just one more route......)
Let's go for broke here with yet another wild guess....
Air France with Boeing 707 service nonstop between Guadalajara and New York JFK. And the actual routing may have been PVR-GDL-JFK-CDG.....
C'est vrai, Mr. L. I recall AF operating the above referenced routing as well, however in the 1970 OAG that I used for these questions, there is no AF service into PVR.
8. Name the two airlines that operated Caravelles from Rio de Janeiro
I believe the other Caravelle operator was Servicos Aereos Cruzeiro do Sul....
Es correcto, jlemon! Otherwise known simply as Cruzeiro, this airline operated domestic flights around Brazil. It was merged into Varig in 1993.

#24 Braniff 707 being unique--uprated engines to operate from "hot and high" airports in South America.
#13--Airlines that ordered 707-420 aircraft--other than BOAC and Air India, how about VARIG (RG), and Lufthansa (LH)?

I have a 1981 OAG that shows Wien to have dropped all service into Whitehorse as well. They maintained service into Juneau with 727-100s flown nonstop from Anchorage and Seattle.
In June of 1980 I flew a Wien 737-200 from Seattle to Kodiak to Kenai to Anchorage. Great routing - like an air tour on the short flights KOD-ENI-ANC.

24. What was different and unique about Braniff’s originally delivered 707s?
Per cs57: Braniff 707 being unique--uprated engines to operate from "hot and high" airports in South America.
Per jrl22: I think this would also make the -227s the only short-body 707s with the large ventral fin that was common on the -300 series
The -227s combined the more powerful JT4A engines of a the 707-320 “Intercontinental” with the fuselage and wing of the 707-120. As noted they were used by Braniff to operate from "hot and high" airports in South America. They were also the only 707s to bear the -200 designation. As to the large ventral fin - I'm not so sure. Check out the picture on this page. Just scroll down a bit. It's on the right. Then compare that to any -320...
Per cs57:#13--Airlines that ordered 707-420 aircraft--other than BOAC and Air India, how about VARIG (RG), and Lufthansa (LH)?
Correct! El Al (-458) and Cunard Eagle (-465) also ordered them.

Good call, jrl22! ADQ it is.
14. Which major U.S. airline ordered Boeing 720s before it ordered 707s?
how about Northwest
That's right! Northwest ordered DC-8s (First delivered in 1960) and 720Bs (First delivered in 1961) before finally ordering a batch of 707-351s (First delivered in 1963)

I don't recall any -100 series 707s with the large ventral fin, although I think it was a feature of the 720B as well as many -300s

I'm sorry, J ~ I stand corrected. I had "vertical stabilizer" on the brain. Ventral fin is a whole different thing. As to ventral fins, I think (but don't hold me to it) that some of TWA's old -131s with the JT3C engines had the large VFs. Google 707-131 and you'll find a few pics.

And we're down to just three...
7. Three airlines operated Convair 990s into Rio de Janeiro. Varig and Swissair were two of them. What was the third?
9. This African airline offered nonstop Bristol Brittania flights between this west African city and London, Gatwick.
(Whaaaat? Sorry gang, somehow this one got past me. A little more information might help. The west African city was Freetown, Sierra Leone.)
15. The Convair 880 was originally named the “Skylark”. What was another pre-production name given to the 880?

[QUOTE=Seat 2A;21958533]Here are the remaining questions left:
7. Name the three airlines that operated Convair 990s into Rio de Janeiro. PARTIALLY A N S W E R E D
(We have Varig and Swissair. We need just one more...)
I don't think Aero Peru was in business yet.
So I'm going with Peru flag carrier prior to Aero Peru which I believe was
Arolneas Peruanas. They came up to LAX a couple of times a week from Rio with at least 2 stops one being Lima.
