This is going to be a really basic question, but how do I install this from the zip file? I've extracted from the zip to a folder, but when running the exe file, I get an error indicating that the dat files can't be opened.

Great App
I was looking for some time for an application to show my own flights. That was so easy to do by creating a fake 00 airline. 2 airports were missing for me, here they are:
CAJ 6.2319 -62.8542 Canaima
LRV 11.95 -66.67 Los Roques
Thanks again for this great app

You do know the author gets his information from a website, right?
On OpenFlights website, you can read:
Airport data derived OurAirports and DAFIF, as well as route data from Airline Route Mapper, is in the public domain.

That's correct, it's OpenFlights who shamelessly scrounges off ARM
Actually, we do try to update the website as soon as a new release of ARM is out.
And odemars -- check out my signature
Openflights do not update their database as frequently as this one.

Hi. Long time watcher, first time poster.
I noticed that several airports in East Asia are misplaced, some by hundreds of km. Here's a partial list of them, with the correct coordinates:
BKK 13.681108 100.747283
DMK 13.912583 100.606750
HCN 22.041075 120.730208
LCX 25.675833 116.746389
LJG 26.679167 100.245833
RMQ 24.264668 120.620580
Thanks!

Hi,
Now I have released my map-based air travel planning tool, based on the ARM database.
(Thanks for making the data freely available, cockpitvisit!)
You can find it on http://www.outwardflight.com
The tool is web-based, but requires the Silverlight 3 plugin..
The flight data is kept in a central database, where you also can save your journeys.
The map used is Microsoft Bing map, and the potential for future development is very great.
In the Outwardflight support forum you can vote on future improvements, and give other feedback.
Outwardflight is also a hobby project, which I have made for my own education and enjoyment.
I hope some of you will find it useful!

I hope to produce a February update in about a week. I am sorry for the lack of a January update, but this is just a hobby project for me and my schedule didn't allow working on it.

cockpitvisit,
I know you've stated in the past that you don't intend to open source this wonderful app because of commingled commercial code issues, but besides the odd misplaced airport location it seems most updates are to the dat files, not the application logic.
Assuming you have some automated way of merging all of the airline schedule data (you must!), would you consider releasing at least that portion of the code/script?
You're doing a great job keeping your app recent & relevant, but as you've stated, this is a side project for you, so it doesn't take precedence in your schedule. Your app could be more useful to more people if anyone (well, anyone with enough ambition!) could gen dat files on demand (i.e. as soon as new schedules are available).
