I second that, this knocks out about 50% of the value I get from this program. Did NW do this for secrecy reasons?

Not to the best of my knowledge, but that could have been one of the secondary reasons for this change ...

You may need to clear your browser's cache.

Thanks for the error report -- it will be fixed in the next version.

If anyone else comes across an airport code that generates a "we need you to clarify" message, please let me know,

I feel the same way, although KVS still provides plenty of useful information for me. But my primary purpose in signing up for a platinum membership was to be able to check BusinessFirst upgrade inventory on an upcoming CO flight without having to waste time calling CO every day. :(

Thanks but stil doesn't yield anything. In fact tried downloading it on another PC (which had never been on the KVS website) and that also downloaded 2.6.2.

Didn't work on my home ISP but using the proxy server from work made it work.

It's a message from the NWA engine (which does have some quirks)... Pls post the city pair/date/carrier selection, and I will look into it.

This is yet another bug in the new NWA engine. I will implement a workaround in the next version of the Tool.

If anyone else comes across an airport code that generates a "Message 106" or "we need you to clarify" message, please post the details here ...

Downloaded 2.7 and it's working fine. I saw the key for the new Wspan award engine. Q: Does Upgrade space = YA+ ?

No, YA is for non-space-restricted economy awards.

If one knows (or can establish) the relationship between the the standard award business class (CS) availability and the upgrade availability, then upgrade availability can be estimated using that factor...

So far in all the searches I have tired if it is CS+ then that also means that there is a upgrade fare available from a slighly discounted fare (B class). If it is a CA+ then it seems that there is a upgradabe available from a full Y fare.

If it is CA- and CS- then you are compeltly SOL.

Do others see the same thing for upgrades...

What tool did you use to confirm the correlation between CS+/CA+ and upgrade award inventory? Obviously it was KVS for the former? Was it the telephone for the latter?

Edited to add: I'm trying to upgrade an IAH-LGW flight in early May from a "Y" fare. KVS shows CS- CA+, but there is no upgrade inventory available on that flight according to NW.

WP odd displays: YS+ YA-

I was doing some checking and saw what I thought was an odd display of availability for YS (Perksaver) seats, but no PerkPass (YA) seats. It seemed to show up when NW/DL connections displayed through DTW on a MSP>JFK routing for 2/28/07. I'm just wondering how this could be, and if it indicates deeper problems in the credibility of what is displayed, as I always thought if a Perksaver was available on a given flight, a Perkpass was too?

PerkPass awards (YA, CA) are only applicable to NW, KL, and CO-operated flights.

I'm trying the exact same thing (upgrade IAH to LGW on CO in Y), and it shows CS- CA+. When I call there is no upgrade inventory. So I assume that CA+ does not correlate to upgrade inventory from Y.

Ok understood. I am going to do a little checking over the next couple of days. I know of one flight that has upgrade space and I am goint to take a look now.

I just looked at SFO-HKG and happen to know that there are 4 "u" seats open on this particular flight. The results show:

YS+ YA+ CS- CA+

I called and there is upgrade availability from "B". This seems to contradict an earlier post but we should keep digging at it.

I should have specified that I was only looking at NW and KLM flights. I was not looking at CO.

My understanding is the CO can limit their upgrade availabity to Worldperks members. I.E. an upgrade might be available for a OnePass member and not to WorldPerks member for the same flight despite the class being upgraded from.

I just called CO to find out if there was upgrade eligibility on my flight, which KVS is still showing as CS- CA+, using OnePass miles (to eliminate the hypothetical variable that WorldPerks members have access to more limited upgrade inventory on CO flights). CO said no. So I think that your case is coincidental, rather than evidence of a correlation. Too bad.

I am guessing that XXX-ACC probably doesn't work for security reasons.

MOW-BOM works (when there is availability), e.g.:

I was looking at award flights from MSP-DEN on jan 15 and KVS is showing YS/YA + i go onto NWA and it says it can not find and Perksavers available Jan 15 coming back on the 19th. Just curious what i am doing wrong.

another interesting thing is that NWA acutally shows the cream color stating persaver available but can't find anything. only Perkpass 50k miles

Data transport Service installation starts

Everytime I try to start KVA Tool, the windows installer starts up and wants to install a windows component? It is looking for an .msi package. I have searched this thread but nothing is returned. If I continually hit cancel it will eventually quit restarting and then the KVS tool will come up. However, it errors out when traing to transfer data. This seems to indicate that some underlying windows service is not running or properly configured. Has anyone else seen this problem? I am on a corporate laptop with enough protection that I'm not too concerned that it is infected, but I suppose anything is possible even if I do not wander freely around the web when sitting in a hotel somewhere.

Thanks,
Roger

"Data Transport Service Control"

I did find that and it was pretty unhelpful. It seems clear that there is an interaction between the KVS Tool and this "Data Transport Service Control" program (DTSC) for whatever reason. It only comes up when attempting to run the KVS tool. If I repeatedly cancel the install, the Tool will start and data is apparently retrieved, but can not be displayed.

My question was directed more to others who may have seen this same problem and not at the developer of this very good program. There is no way you can account for every last vagrant program or service running under WinXP and I don't expect that. I did look in the windows components of Add/Remove programs but it was not listed.

I forgot to mention that I had the problem under 2.6.x, and tried installing 2.7 to see if that would take carte of it. Unfortunately it did not and I made the original post. Thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that helps. I have no idea if the DTSC program has other applications on my laptop or not. I wouldn't be surprised as there are some SAP interface programs that were installed since I last tried to run it.

There is actually no "interaction" between KVS Tool and ___________ (whichever software/component title is causing this). Windows is simply trying to fix an installation error (caused by that software, not KVS Tool), when you try to launch the Tool.

Have you tried doing a Repair for "Data Transport Service Control" in Add/Remove Programs?
