KVS Tool continues to support AA Award (but not Upgrade) Availability:

http://Help.KVSTool.com/#AA

There have not been any changes in that regard.

Awards JL/OneWorld Not Working

For about the last 2 weeks this search engine would give a Data Source Error [RD3] Date Out of Range for any search more than 324 days out, vs. 330 days for all other search methods. Now this error is being displayed for any search, even next week. I am using KVS 7.4.5.R1 and I have cleared the cache and cookies in MSIE.

Could you please provide a specific city pair/date example?

Why is ETR Availability not searching anymore? Searching for particular fare classes used to be among the most valuable features of the tool. Any help?

The [Availability/ETR] Engine was recently de-commissioned.

You can now use the [Availability/FS] Method, which shows Availability across all Booking Classes at once, and set the [Filter] options to show only particular Class(es), if so desired.

Is Awards/BA-OneWorld as accurate with award availability accessible by AA agents as JL-One World is ?

It is fairly accurate, but only [Awards/JL-OneWorld] is completely accurate for CX Award Availability.

Can someone shed any light on how accurate and live KVS info is?

Example - currently shows J9 C9 D7 R6 I4 for a flight (BA164 on 25 Oct) but British Airways insist that only D-class tickets are available?

It's not a POS or origin issue as far as I can tell - I played around with adding legs to the flight to see if it moved availability on this leg, and it remains the same.

Meanwhile the other way round, I needed I-class on BA004 on Oct 26th, saw I3, went to book, as I was on hold they all vanished, but after a bit of poking around, the nice BA lady was able to hold one for me from somewhere...

It is a POS variation -- if you would like to take advantage of the more favourable POS US R/I Availability, you would need to call BA in the US or use a US-based TA/OTA.

"Adding legs" does not change the POS.

Now the Availability/FS method is gone for good too?

Is the end near for this tool which has been such an enormous part of my travel research and planning over the last decade?

Are we supposed to use the kvstool.com/mc functionality instead now?

Regular Flight Availability is now accessible via the [Availability/GTC] Method.

For information on obtaining GTC Credentials, please submit a request via the Contact Form (if you have not done so already).

In addition, you can also use the KVS Tool Mobile Companion.

This just send a google link telling you to find a password yourself. Am I missing something here?

I'm becoming frustrated with KVS, it was bad enough when the AA search capabilities were removed, now with no way to search except via the mobile app the KVS tool is essentially useless to me.

I've wasted so much time trying to find out how to create a GTC account it's become frustratingly annoying.

On the contrary, the new [Availability/GTC] Method supports all airlines, incl. AA.

I'm sure it does, but sending a google search link does nothing to help us gain credentials. Why not provide a direct link to the sign up page so we don't have to waste valuable time????

absolute terrible new version! desperately needing the tool I just found out it doesn't work without this GTC thing... and not even a proper explanation how to arrange a log-in on short notice. that's not what I paid for!

GTC Credentials?

I have asked KVS what GTC credentials are and why I need them. No response. I have had a subscription to KVS for a long time and I don't understand why I have to register again with a social media site given.

Is there any advantage to staying with KVS rather than switching to Expert Flyer? You pay for something and you expect it to work, not to demand more information from you.

I have had several emails from KVS and he keeps telling me to register for GTC credentials but doesn't tell me what this is all about. I find this very strange.

We did provide a response within ~2 hours of your initial e-mail. We do understand your confusion with the Contact Form, but there is absolutely no need to "register" with any "social media site".

TA custody

disappointing update. I switched from expert flyer to kvs for better search results. The web version (mobile) isn't friendly to use as software. Guess now we all back in TA custody

I have repeatedly asked him about this and all he does is tell me to register. Apparently we have no right to know what we are signing up for. I asked for a refund of my remaining subscription time and he doesn't answer, other than telling me to register for GTC.

After many back-and-forward emails with a helpful KVS, I was able to get some GTC credentials, but it wasn't easy or straightforward.

I'm also still trying to figure out the search responses which present differently.

So what is GTC credentials? And why does one need it? You buy something (a KVS subscription) and you expect it to work. I don't register for something when I don't know what it is.

ualboston1k Oct 16, 2014 5:58 pm

GTC is "getthere.com" which is a travel search engine tool that is often used as an engine for corporate/organizational travel.

I assume for what ever reason the "old" and excellent KVS tool has somehow lost its ability to pull flight availability from whatever process they were using before.

It appears they now want us to input credentials for a getthere.com based account so that this account can be used to pull availability on KVS.

I have had the same problems as everyone else. Contacted KVS, I get a cryptic email with a google search which does nothing but point me to various companies and universities that use GTC as their corporate travel profiles and no explanation on how to get a profile. I can't get a profile at these companies I don't belong to.

Am I supposed to sign up with one of these companies and get a profile to use KVS going forward? Isn't that not possible given I am not a member or employee of these companies/organizations. (perhaps this is why KVS' email is cryptic.)

Major thumbs down on the "upgrade" and as a "platinum" KVS member, I'm pissed about this change as it is not what I paid for.

KVS seems very unwilling to provide us with clear guidance as to how to get gtc credentials.

I got an updated email today saying they made the instructions clearer, but I have no idea what these instruction are as they don't seem to be posted anywhere.

This sucks.
