EWR-LAX 10486 miles

Excellent utility ^

I have just stumbled onto your very cool product, however, my version shows EWR-LAX at 10486 miles, this cannot be right. Also yyz-lax 9532 miles.

I have just downloaded ver 1.39, Nov 12 2004. Is this the latest version???

You have the latest version. Go to http://flyingfish.oscarfish.com/download/ARPT.dat and save page as ARPT.dat into your flyingfish program directory and see if that fixes things. This is the February 2006 data file.

I get 2454 EWR-LAX and 2175 LAX-YYZ.

Good luck.

globalFF, I've seen similar anomalies. What I found was you have to hit the clear button (top-right corner of the app), don't just erase the airport codes. This fixed the problem for me.

Bubba

PS This is an awesome tool! Thanks Ryan!

Tried this as well and uninstalling and re-installing the software but still no joy. I am still getting LAX-EWR 2949(better than before) and YYZ-LAX 9532 and EWR-GRU 1954.

Fixed it! The problem was being in Brazil, the decimal points are commas and thousand separtors set as periods. Once I changed this the miles calculation are now correct.

Thanks for an excellent utility

globalFF thanks for the hint I had the same problem having installed the program on a german computer (also have , and . switched the other way around here). Just so that others that have the same problem know how to solve it:

Open the ARPT.dat file with a text-editor (I used Word2003) and select the "Replace with" function and then set it to replace all "." with ",". That solved the problem for me.

Alternative:
In the contron panel under Windows XP you can change what formats windows uses, if you change this to English(USA) this will work, too. (Note: This will change all the formats on your computer, including dates, times, and this punctuation stuff)

You linked back to this exact thread. You can link directly to a post, which is usually more helpful.

Does anyone have a copy of this lying around? The download link appears to be broken.

Since this is unrelated to a MR deal, I am moving this to the discussion forum.

VPescado
MR Forum Mod (and big fan of Flying Fish)

PS. (mod hat off) This tool rocks! It makes its way onto any new computer I have, and is what I always turn to to calculate mileage and cpm.

Bump for Mac OS

I used to love using this tool on my Windows box, but I made switch to the Mac world about 10 months ago, and I miss my flying fish! Add me to the list of people who would love a Mac OS version.
