Ef doesn't have any availability for v...the lowest is k

You are confusing fare class availability for a specific flight with published fare tariffs. The lowest published fare tariff is K. As nux pointed out, CX reserves some fares for their own website.

Our EduGuide describes how tariffs and availability relate.

Quick EF question - I recently joined EF to check availability of a flight for a business award booking, however, the flight I need is not loaded into any system for any class of award seats. Is it possible to set up an alert to tell me when this flight is loaded in for award seats? I am booking with UA miles, flight is on OZ, and both OZ and UA can't tell me anything about when it may load.

Thanks

If you are referring to a flight that has been scheduled, then you can use the Create Flight Alert page, or the Flight Availability results page to setup the alert.

So this also applies to the availability of the overall class available?
Lets say if I'm on wait list for v class...the availability search won't be able to tell me the chances of getting it through the airline as the airlines withhold some of the seats?

You really didn't understand my question. Maybe I wasn' t clear enough..

I want to have just the earlier (06:20) flight showed, not the later one !
Is it possible?

Is this what you are seeing?

There is published availability down to L, with V down showing no availability. I can't comment on how CX releases availability or processes upgrades.

The flight has been scheduled, it is available for cash purchase, however nobody has any opened up award availability and it does not show up on EF.

No, that is not possible. If you want to track availability of a flight, just create a Flight Alert for it so you won't have to do any searching at all.

Then as mentioned before set a Flight Alert for the award classes you want on the flight.

ExpertFlyer Award Seats vs AA Availability?

I've got a generic question that I'm sure is probably in the wrong forum, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

Summary:

EF seems to show award seats available on flights that AA.com/AA via phone is saying are NOT available. However, on different days, where EF still shows award seats, AA agrees that they are available.

Why does there seem to be a disconnect between EF's account of award seats and what AA shows? EF's accounting of Qantas and Air Tahiti Nui matches exactly with AA availability.

My Example:

I'm trying to book 2 business class tickets from the west-coast (for flexibility) to Auckland. AA has a flight available on HA 11 and HA 445 on 2/17 using their system (I also called over the phone to confirm). Expert Flyer shows first class award available on those flights. EF also shows the same first-upgrade + award 7 seats on 2/12/14, but AA.com and AA over the phone doesn't acknowledge these seats are available despite what AA says. What's the deal? EF seems to agree with their 2/17 availability, but shows far more flights with open first class seats (for awards) earlier in the month.

Moreover, two days ago, I saw tons of 62.5K award tickets on HA through HNL to AKL. Is this just their system releasing seats and taking them back through the week?

It's probably a question best posed directly to Expert Flyer.

Whenever you're looking at partner award availability, you run the risk that the partners release award seats to their own frequent flyers but that it's not made available for AAdvantage mile redemptions. Have no idea if that's the problem here. EF should be able to answer authoritatively.

Thank you for the reply. I'll contact EF. I thought maybe someone in here has seen the same issue. I'm pretty sure AA plays some sort of game though, because I *know* I saw many more SFO->HNL->AKL flights the previous day or two, and then poof....they were gone.

Exactly. You didn't make it clear what airlines flights had the issue, but if you are referring to HA, as noted in the Award search, the award classes for HA are:

First - Flex Award/Upgrade (P)
Coach - Flex Award (R)
Coach - Partner Awards (T)
Coach - Saver Award (E)
Coach - SuperSaver Award (Inter-island/Int'l) (U)

Hawaiian is known for withholding First award inventory from partners. So the P award class is not reflective of partner award inventory. HA doesn't share their First partner award inventory, only for Coach (T class).
