Outlook Windows Mobile Sync

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm running my Treo750 on WM5
I had it set to sync (activesync) Calendar and Contacts.

However, It would sure be nice to add a sent items sync so that items that I reply to via my pda gets updated on my desktop in the sent folder.

I could always CC myself but I can't find an automatic way to do that either.

I do not sync OTA via Exchange. I created a mailbox account called Pop3 that handles all my mail.

However when I clicked and added "E-mail" in my sync items, it did great but created a new account named outlook email. Of course this doesn't send or receive until I sync from what I can tell.

Any great solutions out there? Just trying to dial in my device.

Thanks,

Scho

Try mail2web or 4smartphone.com

They offer hosted exchange, set it up on the desktop and your PDA and you'll be good to go.

To do that though, the OP will need to send his (corporate?) email to mail2web, which may be a no-no, a la the Lotus Notes thread recently. As far as I can tell in WM5, there's no way to have your inbox be from the POP source and use an Exchange account as the repository for sent items.

If you're doing this with personal e-mail, or you run your own shop, this shouldn't be a problem though - I have my personal e-mail automatically mirrored all over the place (it downloads from Yahoo and is stored on an IMAP-accessible server on my home network, forward a copy to GMail, and forward a copy to mail2web to get it on my phone. (not that I need it, but just because I can)

I did a little googling, and there might be a commercial app that does what you need - take a look at FlexMail at http://www.webis.net/products_info.php?p_id=mail and see if it might be suitable. I have no experience with the software, but reading the description on the site, it sounds like it could accomplish what you need. There is a free trial version, $29.95 to buy.

POP3, in general, is designed for pulling messages from the server, not putting messages on the server. While there are workarounds, the easiest way to do what you ask is to either use an Exchange or IMAP4 server.

Ugh... Flexmail sucks.

So from what I'm reading here, there is no way to sync a user created pop3 account on hadheld with my Outlook mail account on my desktop purely by way of settings on my existing hardware.

I guess that old CC: workaround is my best option then right?

Thanks,

Scho

In order for you to do what you want you'll need one of two things:

1) An email server that stores all your messages/syncs with the desktop client
2) A third party solution/hack that acts as a conduit

Short version is that with a standard POP3 setup the sent message archive only exists on your desktop, not on the email server. Switch to IMAP4 or Exchange and the messages now live on the server.

If you setup your 750 so that it is synced with your desktop, it will automatically sync the folders between Outlook and Pocket Outlook, however that won't be a "real time" sync as it will only happen when the handheld is connected to your PC.

Real time is not so important to me. I just want any replies I make from the handheld to go into my sent items folder on the outlook desktop the next time I connect and sync.
The trouble with this is that the only folders that seem to sync with the desktop are those listed under "Outlook E-mail". But I cannot cannot enter any pop settings and the send/receive option is not available in the menu. for this "Account."

Why not send it to yourself as well as the person from the WM5 device, then just create a rule under your outlook account at work that if it arrives as an email from your pop email address that it gets moved to sent items.

Many people send emails to multiple address' for this reason.

Yes, this is the workaround. But I have not found a way to automate CCing myself like I culd do with my Blackberry.

Have to use a third party mail program like Flexmail that can send to a default bcc: address (yourself). Palm OS programs could do this, but for some reason WinMobile does not. Mail is marginal I think with WM5 native inbox application.
