I went by the AT&T store that my buddy works at to drop off his Torx tools he let me borrow, and there was about 25 people in line. I had been texting with him all day and when he came in to work at noon there were only about 5 people waiting. He told me that they got about 60 iPhones so assuming that every person waiting in line didn't buy two I could've waited and gotten one.

Interesting to see how much they're gonna be going for on eBay tomorrow morning. I may be kicking myself for not waiting and getting one or two to sell.

I read, probably not confirmed, that they were holding inventory to refresh so they didn't go weeks after the launch with no product to sell. If this is true, eBay market will be small, only the really uninformed or those who are lazy with a lot of money.

I figure I could probably go back over to that ATT store and pick one up tonight if I really wanted. I really don't want to buy one right now, though, for budgetary reasons. If I go there, I might be too tempted.

I believe AT&T is only allowing 1 per person. 2 at the Apple stores.

Well, we saw pics today of the Exchange setup in the mail tab, but according to the iPhone manual (posted now at Apple) http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhone_User_Guide.pdf

"Note: Exchange email accounts must be configured for IMAP in order to work with iPhone. Contact your IT organization for more information."

Which is, of course, what was referenced to in "a setting on the server". Ah, well. Perhaps this will change in the future.

That does not look promising.

Clearly it's gonna take some getting used to.

The really frustrating thing I just saw was that it appears they didn't dedicate any first-day stock to the online store. The quoted ship time when it came back up 10 minutes ago was 2-4 weeks.

No, it's a known problem with on-screen keyboards. Unless Apple has redefined the human thumb and has made a two-year leap in touchscreen accuracy, people will have problems with the iPhone's keyboard just like people have problems with other phones using on-screen keyboards.

But of course nobody should complain about the poor usability. After all it is an APPLE product and they are always easy to use, right?

Over at www.macrumors.com, people are reporting various experiences with activation. Some took less than 3 minutes. Others are still waiting.

The watch-it links opens up activation instructions, not keyboard usage tips...
Downloading the 67 MB movie you learn that if you are typing a word and the phone makes a suggestion to use a different word, you choose the alternative word by not tapping on it. Instead you tap the space bar. If you tap the suggested word, you end up not using it.
Revolutionary? Don't know.
Intelligent? No.
Illogical? Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!
