Thanks, and that sounds like you're saying it's a less bad choice rather than a good choice.

Technology--it's great when it works.

I have a prepaid 3 UK physical SIM that I top up for use in the UK and Europe. While I haven't traveled to the remote parts of the Scottish Highlands with it, the network coverage has been solid around England with reliable 5G service in London.

A nice feature that is included is the 360 clock can be delayed up to 3 months before it needs to be activated. So if you catch the sale pricing, you have some leeway on extending the expiration date.
So 7 GB was on sale for $40 but it's normally $199?

Who was paying that kind of price?

The closest I'll get to Scotland is Hadrian's Wall (sigh, maybe next time). I'll plan on getting two eSIMs so I'll have the (perhaps) better coverage in England.

Having more than one eSIM shouldn't be necessary. I don't think there's one mobile network with appreciably better coverage than the others in the UK (EE, O2, 3, and Vodafone).

Sorry it wasn't clear. That's one eSIM for UK and one eSIM for mainland Europe.

FWIW, I bought Mrs. Majuki the Airalo European eSIM, and she didn't have any connectivity problems in either the UK or the Netherlands.

I use GigSky for a year now. Very happy with it, been using it in Asia/USA/Africa. Once, when I was in Mauritius I had an issue it not connecting online. I have contacted the support and they were very fast on replying and keen to fix the issue. I am mentioning this as it wasn’t a regular run of mill question/answers, but the technician even went to check network coverage/stats in my zone (asked GPS coordinates) and they fixed it within 2 hours or so.

That sounds much more professional than the support I got from Airalo in the exact same situation in Mauritius. Do you remember on which network you were?

That's great. It's also available in the regional eSIM again too. It was kind of ironic that a Singapore based eSIM company wasn't offering eSIMs for Singapore.

Gigsky seems to be a lot more expensive than Airalo. I have two trips coming up, to Portugal and to Spain. Airalo price for 5GB/30 days is $11.50 for Spain and $10 for Portugal. Gigsky price is $19.99.

Correct that. For the same product, prices effectively the same. Airalo Europe plan $20. However Gigsky don’t seem to offer single country plan, so for my purposes Airalo single country plan is much cheaper than Gigsky multi country plan.

I searched the thread and did not see what I'm looking for - I have an I phone 14 sim-locked to ATT - Going to be doing 10 days in Spain and I want a data only. ATT has a $10 day international plan with voice not looking for that - Can I use a Airalo data only esim even thought Im simlocked to ATT?? my plan is to turn off cellar - doable??

Depends on how and why it’s SIM locked.. straight up as described, no you won’t be able to add an esim. if you owe money on it or have a payment plan for the device, then they won’t unlock it or the OTHER eSIM until any payments on the phone are fulfilled… if it was locked and came from a third party and again, doesn’t have any monies owed on a purchase plan of the device, then emailing ATT with your account info (there is an ATT unlock my phone portal, google it) and usually within about 2-3 days they will unlock the other eSIM and you can use it as you like.

And sadly, there isn’t any turning off cellular and having only data on. You may not choose to use it for calls and calls may not come in, heck you may not even be given a destination number (although there is one technically I believe in their systems) with a “data only” sim, but cellular has to be on for the data channel to connect and transmit data.
