6 and 6 Plus, at least the 6 is bezel-less.

I know this from following along a live blog, as streaming over my 50MB corporate WAN to both an iPhone5 and and iPad Air is a mix of test bars, "access denied", stutters, snippets of Apple leadership, and Japanese translations of what they're saying on stage. Not impressed with the technology, big technology company.

It's Chinese, specifically Mandarin!

CPRich Sep 9, 2014 11:27 am

My bad. But why is it there? You would again think a "technology" company would know to split the stream to various URL's with on-the-fly translation in different languages.

"Equal or better battery life" - we continue to be challenged with battery life. LTE browsing, same as the last generation.

On-sensor phase-detect auto focus, as in the Canon 70D. Impressive from a technology standpoint.

(looks like the Mandarin translation was just a translator standing too close to a hot mic - it's gone/grealy diminished. But 5 straight minutes of streaming also ended. From CNN - "It's amazing that CNN does a better job broadcasting an Apple event than Apple does.")

Apple is still playing catch-up to Android, I see.

That said, with the 5.5" 6L (6+?) model and AT&T's propensity to lock down Android handsets harder and harder anyway, I'm actually halfway tempted to move back to iOS this time.

i want to be able to brag about how Apple invented the phablet. :D ;)

Did I miss the Android watches that the AppleWatch copied?

I was talking about the phones. ;)

That said, while I haven't seen the specs on Apple's watch, somehow I doubt it's drastically different than any of the Android Wear devices that were released in the last month.

You mean the ones released by Motorola, Asus, LG, and Sony already? If the Apple Watch is priced anywhere near $250, I'll be shocked. My guess is $399 for the absolute cheapest one.

To be fair: the Apple Watch is leaps ahead of what was released by Motorola and LG this week. Whether it's worth the extra cash is the question.

:D

I wish I was still young. :p

Perhaps more accurate would have been to say that I'm not really interested in an allegedly "smart" watch of either Android or iOS stripe.

$350 is the cheapest one. I don't know.. I think it is ugly. It doesn't look any better than wearing an iPod nano on watch belt.

I think a lot of people are going to be angry that the smallest iPhone 6 is way better than their current 5/5s, and if you don't put the even larger 6 Plus, you are going to have lower resolution, battery life, and no OIS on the camera.

I am probably going to switch back to iPhone 6 Plus, but I am kind of disappointed in the features. Nothing really exciting at all to look forward to.

SRQ Guy Sep 9, 2014 12:54 pm

What do you have now, Need? Despite my snark I'm actually quite interested in the 6 Plus. There's a chance it could drag me back to iOS, especially with my carrier locking down the Android handsets anyway.

I really can't wait for the hardcore fanbois' response to the screen sizes, though. Perhaps I should go dig up old posts now before they disappear. :D

Note 2. I switched from iPhone 3G to Note because of the screen size. I was waiting and waiting for Apple to come out with a larger phone. When iPhone 5 was announced, I decided I can't wait anymore and switched.

I am very happy with Note 2, but all families are on iPhones and iPads. It is just impossible to keep in touch with them when they are sharing photo on Photostream and chatting on iMessages. And I listen to audiobooks free from the library's Overdrive everyday. Overdrive does not support Android devices on their WMA audiobooks. I have to first download it to my old iPhone 3G; extract it out; and put it back into my Note 2. It was just very time consuming.
