True, but during this promotion, Verizon is offering a flat $200 for ANY iPhone 4 (8 or 16Gb, any carrier) that is in good condition (no cracks, etc.). Great deal, IMHO, especially if one wants to get an iPhone 6 anyway.
Check that trade-in link I posted earlier and you'll see that all iPhone 4 and up models get a minimum of $200 trade-in value.

- My device upgrade date changed after I processed the trade-in. It was 10/11/14 and now it shows 9/13/14. Maybe it was when the promo started?
- The fine print said I had to purchase a new iPhone 6 by 9/30/14 on the vzw.com site. When I checked the ship date on vzw.com it was something like 10/31/14 for the model I wanted. I looked it up on apple.com and it was 7-10 business days. I went through the process of ordering on Apple.com and it gave me the upgrade price.
- Now I'll wait to see if my GC comes after I send in the iP4.
Wish I would have thought about this sooner. I could have pre-ordered for delivery sooner than 10/7. Oh well.

I don't think the purchase of the iPhone 6 on Apple.com will give you the bonus trade-in; as you said, the fine print says it has to be purchased on vzw.com

Anyone see any reason to go a different path?
I know I'll have to pay $649 plus tax, but I'll have no contract extension, no increase in my monthly fees, and I'll have an unlocked phone from the get-go, so I can buy local SIMs when I travel.

Will T-mobile unlock theirs (even paying full freight) if you're not a current customer? I thought you had to have your account in good standing for a month or two...

I read that on T-mobile fourm that if you buy the T-mobile iPhone 6 from Apple, it will come unlocked. That maybe what I will do if it is confirmed after Friday.

AT&T (Both Apple store and AT&T store) do not sell iPhone 6 at full price currently. You have to buy it with their NEXT plan (which is just 0 interest for 18/24 months). And it will come locked. There were reports that AT&T won't unlock it until the 18 or 24 months are done even if you decided to pay the balance off.

I ordered two T-Mos. If, by the time they come, this proves not to be the case, I'll just return them.
AT&T is so full of games . . .

Verizon full price iPhone 6
Looks like there may be a glitchy way to order a no-contract iPhone 6 from Verizon: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1776008
(Note, don't use your browser's Back button, click on the red Back navigation buttons on the page).
I have no idea if this works; some have reported success and others have had their orders cancelled. I'd imagine if it goes through you'd receive an unlocked iPhone 6 with no contract or commitment?

I am sure by the end of tomorrow, someone will post the result of whether T-mobile iPhone 6 is unlocked or not. Or wait to around Thanksgiving when Apple release their unlocked version of iPhone. Both iPhone 5 and 5s unlocked versions were released at the end of November (2012, 2013).

In the past, even if you pay full price, TMO won't unlock for 30-40 days. I'd give them a call to confirm before returning. Or better yet, re-sell. Sure lots of interested parties will pm you, LOL.

So who actually got a iPhone 6? I got a 6(not plus), 64gb Space grey. I'm liking it so far, along with the Verizon voice over LTE.

I did look at a 6 today at a Softbank store. Looks pretty nice. I'm looking forward to getting my T-Mo varieties.
In the end, I think I might just switch over to T-Mo. They'll pay the early termination fees with AT&T, cost lest per month, and I'll get some free international roaming. All in all, sounds like a good move that will only be briefly painful.
