Ready to bend over again?
HP is offering refurbished TouchPads through their eBay (love the irony) page starting on Sunday, December 11, at 7PM EST. (Source)
http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard
Usually pricing applies ($99/$149), and they come with a 90-day warranty.
Don't fall for the $79 accessory package. You can get it through NCIX (new, reputable Newegg competitor) for $68 (more details). It is also where you can get a Touchstone for $30 (plus shipping).

And with this news hitting all of the deal websites and most of the major electronics websites, I am sure its going to be near impossible to get one. Good luck to everyone who tries, I know if I get one I will follow it up by buying a lottery ticket!

I tried, but failed. I had about a dozen browser windows open, trying repeatedly, but the few that made it to checkout choked when I tried to get into PayPal to pay for the tablets. Apparently, not only did the sale bring eBay to its knees, but PayPal as well. Interesting, too, that they all sold out in 24 minutes.
Oh, well. I still have two -- one I bought on eBay at double the HP price, and one I bought for my wife at the sale price from Best Buy as part of the, "buy an HP computer and you can buy an HP Touchpad" promotion. For what it's worth, I'm very happy with the laptop that I bought -- no frills, but solid and fast, it has become my new best friend, replacing a delicate Sony Vaio that cost 5 times as much.

I had my Paypal account running already before launching eBay over a very, very high speed business class broadband connection, and it just froze - and I knew it wasn't me. Oh, well - no HP gadget for the "kids" this Christmas.
Net traffic probably read like DOS last night with eBay ....

I had no trouble picking up 2x 16GB/$99 refurbs on eBay.
I initially hit problems with ebay.com not responding, and then when I finally did get one in my "cart" payments.ebay.com was completely down and I couldn't actually buy it.
So I jumped over to ebay.com.au and had no problems at all with buying them. Payment was via payments.ebay.com.au, and whilst it still seemed slow to respond it went through without any problems. (My ebay account was originally registered in Australia, but I think this would have worked for anyone - some people were reporting success going through ebay.ca too)

The Cyanogen Touchpad forum has a thread on ICS. Looks like most things are working with just a few more bugs to figure out.
