Just thought I'd mention that I realized I had left my TP on (without wifi). I have no idea how long but it's probably about a week. I remember that I had just charged it and it was at about 98% battery.

I just looked and it was at 68% battery. That's excellent! ^

BTW, it was left on with Cyanogen Alpha 2.1.

Looks like there will be a stampede. Is this bundle worth 279?

It appears you're paying about $220 for the TouchPad alone (along with overpriced Belkin accessories).

The TouchPad's speakers are plenty loud, and I'd rather have a case with a built-in stand (I'm looking at this one*). If you want a nice, foldable stand, you can get this one for $9.

* - It would be my third case.

A decent number of the 200,000 born-again TouchPads were to backfill retail store orders. There are rumors many retailers are holding stock to have sales like this--be on the lookout for bundled packages on Black Friday.

Stampede, I don't think so. You meant get ready for the next wave, LOL, for the rollout of the just announced HP Slate 2 Tablet PC, starting price of $699 and available worldwide later this month. Gooood luck to those HP shareholders.

Plenty of brand new, factory sealed TP's being offered on eBay (+ local CL's) - avg. asking around $220 or less shipped (no return accepted, however.) Coming next January, I would not be surprised to see more inventory sales to clear out these WebOS-based TP's (it's rumored that newer ones has Android on it, unconfirmed) as more tablets hit the retail channels.

A Samsung Galaxy 7" WiFi only tablet is going for $289 or less this week (with coupon code) - much easier to root & upgrade from Froyo to Gingerbread OS, and, wide choice of custom ROM on xdadevelopers. Plus, the Galaxy is very portable with a good proven track record - no lines, no wait, no rush, and full warranty & exchange policies and OEM support ....

The HP Slate 2 has gotten rather poor reviews -- it may wind up being closed out, though I doubt it as Microsoft has a stake in having it run Windows. It's not really designed as a personal tablet (and therefore not as good, i.e. useful, as the Touchpad) but more as a point-of-sale device.

Those are the 16 GB units. They're fine but, because there is no easy way to add storage to a Touchpad, the 32 GB unit is a better choice. Those are running around $280-300.

The Slate 2 isn't a WebOS tablet. And, though there have been 3 verified reports of Android-installed TPs coming from HP, HP claims that they were released in error. The newer ones do not have Android.

Cyanogenmod has indicated that it will probably release Icecream Sandwich within a few months. Once the developmental work on the HP TP is finished (and I already use the Alpha 2.1 release on a daily basis -- it's stable and full-featured), it's easy (according to Cyanogenmod) to release OS upgrades for all supported Cyanogenmod implementations.

Plus, the Galaxy is very portable with a good proven track record - no lines, no wait, no rush, and full warranty & exchange policies and OEM support ....
It's also a 7" tablet. I bought my HP for the larger screen so that, among other things, I can watch movies and television shows and read books.

For what it is worth, it is the 32GB model.

FWIW, average 32gb prices around here have slowly dipped to just around $250.
