Picked up a 13" i5 for about 15% off RRP just this evening. Its been a long-ish week (and if I turn it on now, I suspect I'll be up for another few hours just playing with it) and I'll play with it tomorrow.
1. I don't plan to install Windows for at least a week.
2. Will give iWork a run for a while before I decide if I want to continue with it or switch to MS Office for Mac.
3. I'm using gmail (and more recently, set up google apps that I intend to transition into). If Mail.App supports labels (or if its new iteration within Lion supports it), I'll stick to Mail.App; might also try out the
4. Definitely installing Chrome instead of running Safari.
Thanks all for the help so far and I'll be sure to post more tomorrow morning.

In the meanwhile, how does mail.app transpose labels to folders when an email has two labels attached to it?

okay
http://www.macworld.com/article/1578...#lsrc.rss_main
hits on the key points to focus on.
and this one goes into a bit more detail,
http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/answe...and_mail.app1/
as for multiple labels, I think it will put the same message in multiple folders on the imap side so there could be some duplicity in that regards

There is a reason why Apple itself recommends anti-virus software.
Oh. I guess PC World (http://www.pcworld.com/businesscente..._software.html), CNet (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10110852-83.html), InformationWeek (http://www.informationweek.com/news/.../mac/212201455), etc., all got it wrong...

Apple removed an old item from its support site late Tuesday that urged Mac customers to use multiple antivirus utilities and now says the Mac is safe "out of the box."
"We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate," Apple spokesperson Bill Evans said.
"We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate," Apple spokesperson Bill Evans said.
There are no known viruses in the wild that exploit a vulnerability in the Mac OS, and Windows continues to be the overwhelming preference for malware writers to target their programs. But malware isn't just taking advantage of operating system weaknesses anymore. In fact, the majority of such threats now come from code that targets weaknesses in browsers and other applications that aren't platform specific.
Mogull said he doesn't recommend that the average Mac user install antivirus software because of the low-level of malicious software seen for Macs at this time.
