You need to download the latest firmware update for your GPS so it can read SDHC cards. Even then, I am told that nothing faster than a Class 2 card will work, assuming your GPS is more than a year old.

However, no, the phone part doesn't have to be on. (If it is, you'll get traffic updates and a bigger database to search for POIs from, though.)

I have a TomTom 950 Go that came with Australian maps and the option to download one other country for free so I chose the USA maps which had to be put on a mini-SD due to their size. When I am driving in the USA, will the TomTom automatically shift to the USA maps? Can I pre-load the addresses I need before we go? I can't get the TomTom to display the USA maps when I am in Australia.

one more Nokia question , does the phone part have to work ?
so if you had a Verizon phone that is not going to work in Europe since its not GSM , will the GPS work as long as I download maps before I leave or over WiFi ?
I do not mind bringing 2 "phones" with me if it will work....
thanks RB

somewhere on the TomTom is a icon that says maps, when you click on that you can pick your map,
at least thats how you do it on a 910
and I was able to load addresses on the other map from home.
