Well the cloud cover didn't help much. Flattop wasn't good, so we drove down the Seward highway and parked for a bit by Beluga Point.
A few decent images of faint aurora, but this one was probably best:
35mm lens, F/1.8, ISO 500 15 second exposure I believe.

Do you have Lightroom or something to do some raw processing? You could selectively increase contrast in the greens and what not to try and make it "pop" a bit more if you wanted.
Did you try 30 sec exposure at f/4 focus set to infinity?

I've never been into image editing, and wouldn't know how to do anything.

Thanks but it has to be said my only input was putting the camera (Samsung NV10) into macro focus mode and pressing the button. The star was the dragonfly who posed on the flower stalk and stayed perfectly still throughout. I took about ten shots most of which turned out ruddy awful.

More Flying insects
New to FT and there is a wealth of information -- but not much I can contribute -- or at least, I thought there wasn't until I saw this string and the beautiful dragon fly (and a lot of other great photos too). Here are some more fun insects since that's a theme. These are all taken with a nikon 5100 and either a 105mm or a 35mm with a ranox. These are greatly reduced in size and posted on smug mug -- No idea how they will display here...
