First of all, this is NOT mine, but it is so beautiful and reminiscent I "needed" to share this shot by DB777 from FlightAware:
AIRPORT: KOPF / Opa-locka Executive / Miami, FL
REGISTRATION: N836D
DESCRIPTION: The Historical Flight Foundation's restored Eastern Air Lines DC-7B on short final approach to Opa-locka Executive Airport on Saturday, January 15, 2011. They were returning to home base after flying a plane load of aviation enthusiasts on a 45-minute trip up the coast to Palm Beach and then down to Key Biscayne at low altitude off the beach.
I flew on a bunch of EAL propliners, from twin props to the inimitable Connies to a bird like this. :sigh:

Apparently it's not the easiest landing.

I have no idea why they don't let you approach from the sea side.

I maintain that landing at St. Barthelemy airport is scarier. You have to plummet 400' just as you clear the mountains.

Going off topic for just a moment - let's try a combination all of those factors: Tight bank followed by a drop over a hill with a fair amount of crosswind onto a short runway. This US plane almost ate it there.

Taken from my back yard Oct 22 2010 at dusk. I had about 6 seconds to power up my P&S and take this shot as it came over the top of my house without warning; it wasn't following the local flight path. It's too bad the sun was down; there's not much detail. However, I'm sure many will recognize this plane.
