Now I am really intrigued as to why they have this paint job. If anyone Ryanair would never give away free publicity.

Either that or that one was sold at a discount to Ryanair. Or it could be the 800th 737 - http://www.pprune.org/spectators-bal...nt-scheme.html .

After all O'Leary once said his favourite words were "Made in Seattle"

The CI paintjob was to celebrate one of the last 747-400 passenger aircraft coming off the line if I remember correctly.

When you're buying a big expensive airplane from Boeing, everything is negotiable. If Boeing felt that having their company colors on an airframe makes advertising sense, then they could include that as an incentive in the pricing.

I've got my new camera and lenses, and will be at SFO on Friday. Any recommendations for a place to spot? I do not have a car, but can catch a cab.

I'll have my 18-55mm and 55-300mm.

Actually, that's not a rule here in the U.S. on U.S. carriers. The first time I heard of that rule was when flying BA. Planes land with window shades down all the time here.

Another difference between U.S. domestic and foreign flag operations is regarding handheld electronic devices after landing. All (or all I've been on) U.S. carriers allow the use of mobile phones once the plane has touched down. Being used to this rule, I got chastised on BA (in F, nonetheless!) for turning my iPhone on once we had slowed down and were taxiing to the terminal. They didn't even allow phones to be turned on after landing back at LAX!
