Silhouette of a little passenger waiting to board a 787 at IAH on July 4th:

Flying at 41,000' in a UA 787 over the Midwest on July 4th. The newest American plane on an American airline on America's Independence Day:

Stunning, yes.
Difficult, not really:

a. press front of lens casing against window,
even if at angle (don't let glass of lens touch window)
b. make sure all lighting within plane is NOT reflected
in window (coat, blanket, or similar over head + camera)
c. expose with NO flash & no visible camera movement
relative to wing-engine, focus on far tip of wing, 1 sec or more

My guess, image above ~2 seconds...?
Here's one ~5 seconds & wing still identifiable:

The winglet on the AA 767-300 is my new favorite to frame my airborne shots:

Now that is inspirational to the max. Simply one of the best in-flight photos I've ever seen.
