There are actually 2 airport limo companies operating at HKT now.
You can purchase the voucher at their counters (in the terminal) located just after customs/luggage claim area. They will give you directions on where to board the taxi or have someone escort you over.

Surin beach gets steep quickly and, yes the waters are still volitile during Sept. The red flags will be up at all beaches. Rip tides are the trouble.
Another 2 drowning deaths this week (not sure which beaches) in Phuket http://www.phuketgazette.net/news/index.asp?id=7654

I have been trying out different destinations in Thailand my last several trips but I would now like to return to one of my favorite beaches: Kata. Hotel rates there seem a bit excessive compared to what I remember from several years ago. First choice would be Kata Beach Resort as I like the location but they seem to be much more expensive than before. Would like to go Jan/Feb, (I know that's prime-time) and would like to know what sort of bargains I might be able to get then for Kata or another hotel on the beach. And would it be better to try and just call the hotel directly for a better rate?

Finally Thailand!
Hey StP,
see your posts over in the AE Forum where I spend much of my time. Canadian, finally getting over to Asia and want to do it right! We have 6 days (5 nights) in Phuket from Dec. 6-11. Trying to narrow down between two hotels that really mean two distinct areas. I have read many great things about the Le Meridien Khao Lak and at least nothing terrible about the Hilton Arcadia Phuket. I am having a hard time making the decision between access to nightlife and a bit more Thai flavour and the quiet seclusion and privacy of Khao Lak. I know you can't make that choice for me but maybe you could enlighten me a bit more on what I might expect at each (or one if you only know one of the locations well) Less about the hotels, more about the surroundings. Any tips on places to visit while there, great food?good (see: cheap and safe) Spa's, Must see/do?? Any info helps. Thanks!

Greetings from another Canadian from Ottawa who has been heading out to Thailand for the past five years to avoid at least a part of the winter here in Ottawa..
We have been to Khao Lak twice and loved it both times. We are retired and were not looking for much of a night life, just pleasant surroundings, some local eats and just R&R. Le Meridien Khao Lak fit the bill perfectly for us. Both times, we headed from Khao Lak to the Marriott Phuket for a week, which is about a 45 minutes ride from Patong in Phuket. The Marriott in Phuket is one of the best resorts I have ever been to and it is a bit remote from Phuket so you can have peace and quiet and for the days or evenings, you want more action, you can head to Patong...
Sorry, can not tell you much about the Hilton. Enjoy your trip..

Which Marriott Beach Club
Hi - My family (wife and three small kids) and I are going to Phuket next month and we want to stay at one of the Marriott Beach Clubs. I see that there are two quite near each other: Phuket Beach Club and Mai Khao Beach Club. Does anyone have any recommendation on which one we should be staying at? Thanks for any advice! Rob

Hi Sean,
How would you compare Phuket to Koh Tao? Which is easiest (and cheapest) to arrive via BKK? Must I fly, or do busses/ferries come to the island?
I'd like to get my SCUBA certification in Thailand. Can you recommend a dive shop in Phuket? (with a website) Are there any rock climbing/bouldering tours I can do (for beginners) in Phuket?
How do I get around the island of Phuket?
Thanks!

We are retired and make Thailand a part of our winter getaway, so we choose a route that allows us to spend 4 - 6 weeks in the California area. We have tried Asiana via L.A. and Seoul, ANA via San Fran. and Tokyo and Thai via L.A. We have been flying on pints lately also and have been able to secure Business/First Class seats on these airlines, given our flexibility of travel dates.
I think Air Canada has a codeshare to Bangkok through Hong Kong and may also have one through other parts of Asia but I have not used it so can not comment much on it..
Good Luck in planning, we love Thailand and its people..
