Transit In BKK (pass Security Again ?)
Hi,
Planning on going to BKK and continue to KoSamui. not on the same ticket.
elal lands 14:50, Thai has a flight 16:00 . tight.
to make the connection, i want to go with a trolly only, and not check-in any suitcase.
my question: while doint a transit in BKK, do you go over security again (i just cant remember) ?
i ask because the trolly will be filled with liquid items (shampoo, perfume etc) and while it's allowed from TLV, i know that this is not allowed in Thailand.
so i need to know if they Xray the bags again while in transit. and if so, is there a way to check-in the trolly while in transit without going to the check-in counters (and passing immigration)
Thanks.

Just came back from BKK.
You have to pass security again. A friend of mind lost a lot of shampoo and cream due to the security.
Also pay attention that immigration lines are might be very long in BKK.
You might want a longer connection.

You will pass through immigration between international airside to domestic airside on the ground floor of the junction of concourses ABC which is the opposite side of the terminal from where your LY flight will land.
Regardless, you will get better answers if your RBP your thread and ask that it be moved to the Thailand forum. This has nothing to do with LY in actuality. What you need to know really is whether you can check your bag at the transit desk in BKK. I don't know the answer.
If you do need to go outside to check your bag you at least won't have to go through immigration in the domestic end of the terminal and I haven't see the security line over there very long.
With whom are you flying to USM? Why not just check the bag all the way through? You don't need to be on the same ticket to interline.

1. i don't understand why you say i need to go thru immigration ?
i want to do a transit in BKK.
i did that 4 years+ ago when the new BKK airport was opened. no immigration in BKK, just at final destination in Chiang Mai.
2. i want to continue to Samui with Thai. i don't want to check the bags all the way thru because of the short connection (1:10 hours). i dont want to take the chance of not getting my bags only the day after ( i can manage with 2 carry on bags).
3. the question about check a bag at the transit desk was just for comfort reasons...
so basically the question is:
Arriving LY81 14:50 .
want to continue with Thai to Samui 16:00
i know that this is tight, but if i print the boarding pass for thai at home (web check-in) and only need to walk from Elal gate to the domestic transfer and then to the Thai gate, i think 1:10 is enough (if Elal isn't late of course).
an i missing something ? has things changed, and i need to que for immigration at the transit area ? or just have a QID sticker and do immigration at Samui ?
thanks.

It appears that you will be ok.
But at the same time you are saying that you are concerned about the liquids being able to go through security.
Regardless, to be sure, go to the Thailand forum and read and ask there. They will be much more knowledgeable than folks in the LY forum.

I said that you will pass through immigration since I wasn't aware that USM has immigration. I found that out just now by going to the more appropriate forum and searching for "immigration samui" and found the following threads.

It appears that you will be ok.
But you also seemed to be concerned about being able to get the liquids through the security between int'l and domestic airsides.
But at the same time you are saying that you are concerned about the liquids being able to go through security.
I understand that it is just for comfort. Just in case... Does that mean you don't really want an answer?

thanks for your answer and research !
the question about liquids was definitly a concern . but as a found out that i must pass security, i will limit myself to the minimum, and buy whatever i need.
i asked in this forum, because the use of TG transfer desk depends on the arriving airline ! i've read of cases that TG refused to do the transit for FD travellers , for example.
i will re-post in the thailand form.
Again, thanks for your effort.
**update
after reading more posts, and also the official airpot guide, i am confused again.
http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/p...ic_noBD_en.php
the website states:
-Disembark from the aircraft
-Contact Transfer Check-in Counter 2nd Floor On Eastside to obtain a Boarding Pass
-In case of Passenger travelling to Chiangrai, Chiangmai, Phuket, Hatyai, Samui, Krabi
Passport Check at Immigration Counter In the concourse building C on 2nd Floor
Customs Check
Pass through X-Ray Machine
Wait for boarding in hold rooms In
Concourses A or B
so is immigration done at final destination or BKK..?!?!?

There are two ways to access the domestic area in BKK. 1) go our through immigration, go up to the fourth level and then go through domestic security. 2) Go through immigration at the junction of A,B,C,D concourses to access the domestic concourses. I would suspect #2 also has security involved.
You complain about not wanting to go through immigration because you're going to Samui. Well, Samui is in Thailand. You're trying to take a domestic flight.
And I don't believe 70 min is a legal connection, but, even if it is, you're taking quite a risk doing this with 2 PNRs.

Edit: The MCT is odd. If I'm reading it correctly 55min is the MCT from the TLV code share but all other TG flights connecting to USM are 75 min MCT. Does anyone else find this confusing?
And what if this wasn't purchased as a code share, but simply LY?

The schlep from gate E7ish to the ABC junction is also going to be a good 10 mins once the plane actually makes it to gate E7ish and opens the doors and the pax makes it through the door.

i am taking 2 PNRs as the flight TLV-BKK is using miles, and ElAl doesnt allow to add other flights to this type of ticket.
i will be travelling with hand carry only, and do the online check-in before i leave TLV.
so basically, i need to get off the plane (travelling BIZ, so should exit quickly), do the long walk to the transfer immigration, pass that, then security and go to the gate.
if you consider that the flight from TLV will land on time, is this still doable ?
if i find that the flight from TLV is leaving TLV late, i can always call THAI and cancel the ticket, and make a new reservation with bangkok airways (and probably pay a high fare)
so the main question remains: if landing is on time, can i still make it ?

Can you make it? Potentially. Is it risky and slightly stressful? Yeah.
