Thanks for that. How do I find out whether the 747 scheduled will be new suites or old seats? [I appreciate there is a margin of error as everyone talks about Thai equipment changes]. I'm looking at BKK to FRA on 747 arriving 7pm in May 2015.

Isn't this flight, TG922, operated by the A346?

Apologies - I have just re-read the start of the seat configuration thread which answers my question. I was also wrong @wheresmybagba - it's the A340.

Sorry for cluttering the [wrong] thread!

no problem Jeremy!
everybody is happy to help you in this Forum!
even on the A340 I think it is still much better to be in F than in J! Flown this TG plane two dozen times in both F and J during the last 24 times so I know what I am talking about!

Communication from TG

Hi guys,

I'm just wondering to how often do you receive emails from Thai Airways? Throughout my membership with Thai, I haven't received any emails and I've checked my Personal Info. on the ROP setting and my email was correct. Was it because I was on Silver? Now since I've just got the gold would there be a regular newsletter, promotions, etc ? Thank you.

I've received every 3 months and I don't have status, just a ROP member.

Thanks BinSabai!

So I booked last night. X2 in F BKK to LHR on the 747 (1.10am flight!) in May 2015. From what I've read it looks like i have a better than average chance of getting the new F.

For seats, there's two of us so I read from Lucky at One Mile at a Time that the front two seats in the 747 are best for a couple travelling together? Any views to the contrary.

For food, I just need to read the stuff in the forum on whether to order in advance, and , if so, what to order.

On the lounge, it looks like I just turn up and enjoy (being careful to post my details so we can guest a couple of people in).

So for now i have just two questions re connections.

1. We arrive 7am from CMB and fly out 1am the following morning. I know we can leave the airport, but the question is whether we can get into the lounge first thing in the morning to freshen up/ have a snooze (as though connecting), then leave the airport and have a day in Bangkok, before returning to the airport for the night flight.

2. Secondly on baggage, the third flight in our interary CMB-BKK-LHR after LHR is not on Thai. Can I ask them not to through-check our luggage as I want to drop stuff off in London (another long layover) before catching the connection? If not, and they insist on checking through to the final destination, will they offer Business passengers (CMB is two cabins) enhanced hand baggage or are they really strict about it?

Finally any other pre-departure advice or research let me know - I'm getting into the hang of this (and my eyes are hurting/lack of sleep as a result!)

1. possible if you have boarding pass for BKK LHR; you get this either in Colombo or in transit in BKK. You actually should get a escort to pick you up at gate when arriving from CMB. So you tell them you would like to go to F lounge. Later in the F lounge you tell them that you would like to go down town and they bring you to immigration

2. TG is rather generous regarding carry on baggage. I often have two large one in Biz

Hi everyone,

I just received my Gold Pack today, and found that there is no upgrade voucher in the pack, and the envelop has been opened upon arrival (The envelop wasn't sealed properly, not that anyone tried opening it). There is a card and 2 luggage tags included. I'm not sure if I should receive the voucher, or simply call the THAI office and request for an upgrade as per stated in the letter. It doesn't say what items are included in the envelop so I'm not sure whether there should be an upgrade voucher.

Thank you.

you will get a upgrade for a round trip ticket for qualifying or requalifying as Gold member. However there is NO formal voucher. Just call TG office or let your travel agent handle upgrade.

This happened

Hi everyone,

Newbie here flying Thai business class for the first time. I have ARN-BKK return ticket starting next week. I have not received any updates from TG, so yesterday I decided the check my booking to make sure everything is set. I noticed my seat assignment had disappeared from the return flight. And the MMB tool shows full cabin. I send an email to Thai CS which promptly replied by forwarding the issue to Sweden.

Today no reply from sweden but I can see I have been assigned a seat at the last row. MMB still shows full cabin. I understand this is a first world problem, but I would so much rather kept my original seat at the front of the cabin. Which clearly showed confirmed status at the time of booking.

Is this typical of TG? At the end it is all random and there is no guarantee which seat you end up?

no it is not typical and seat reservation are not random
do you have a pdf or print of your original seat reservation? You should complain to your local TG office or through the channel you purchased your ticket and ask to give back your original seat or one of your choice and not in the last row!

Thank you for the support, but local TG office wont budgge. Apparently my original and confirmed seat was given to a family who need to sit close to each other. Cabin is full and I have an unconfirmed seat reserved for pax with babies. I guess I should be happy I am still in business class cabin.

Question 32H - 777 does it have AVOD

Hello
Does anyone know if Thai have AVOD on 777 - excellent legroom but somewhere I read no in seat audio or video? I'm on TG461 BKK to MEL on Wed this week and might need to upload a movie or two?
Thanks
