IAH - Walking with Baggage Cart from Term A to D?
Advice, please! Arriving on American Airlines at Terminal A at IAH and must uplift bags (3 mondo heavy ones) from baggage claim and slap onto baggage cart and somehow get to Terminal D for international flight check-in at AirNZ. Have PLENTY of time, but read online that baggage carts are not permitted on the TerminalLink automated people mover OR on the underground Inter-Terminal Train. Is there a way to walk, pushing my baggage cart all the way from from A to D? Am fit and have 4-hour layover. If so, is the walk underground (taking elevator down from baggage claim)? Just won't know what to do to get to a possible "walkway" once heavy bags are piled onto a baggage cart at baggage claim. Thanks!

If you don't mind the walk -- and A to D is just about the longest distance you can walk and still be on the airport property -- you should be able to take the elevator to the Inter-Terminal Train level and push your baggage cart along the walkway without actually boarding the train. I've made the walk from Terminal C to the Marriott hotel the same way.

Take the elevator down from baggage claim. The walkway goes all the way. I'm guessing it's at least a 15 minute walk. I've done from B to the Marriott and from the Marriott to C and E

YMMV, but...
I see what is posted on the airport info page, but... On the tare occasion when I had to move a large amount of luggage between terminals I grabbed a cart (cost a few bucks but worth it when needed) and took the elevator up to the train, boarded and alighted without issue. There were agents about but none stopped or questioned me. At the destination terminal took the elevator down to the terminal level.

this is an extremely long walk. like 3-4 miles (the signs say this). but at least there's country music blaring, iah is fun for a dingy airport
maybe just try to get your cart on, it's houston errybody breaks rules there and nobody snitches
maybe just take an uber from terminal to terminal? also arrivals E (all arrivals) have free baggage carts, does anyone know if departures D is the same?

At one time, and they may still be there, signs throughout the lower train level say distances in feet to the various terminals and the Marriott.
I recall, walking eastbound from A to D/E, the first sign says some 5,000+ feet. 5,280 is one mile.
Years ago, when I smashed bags for UA, we operated out of A (way before the CO merger). We also ground handled the daily LH to FRA. By way of vehicle on airfield, it was roughly one mile between A and D (then called IAB, Mickey Leyland Int'l Arrivals Building).

Despite one post above (and that it was done), CARTS are NOT allowed on SkyWay, hence posts about SubWay - but this is outside security.
With a wheelchair you are allowed to stay on SkyWay (look for easy to see signs) so no need to exit security.
Just take an elevetor to platform level.
Easy Peasy
