Chat is working again.. Do we know what the problem was, and why it took so long to fix? Was it the same problem that you had to deal with in 2010, that also took the whole summer to fix?

The problem was a completely new one and incredibly obscure. We have fixed it and ensured that this specific problem won't happen again, although it doesn't appear that it would have happened again for quite some time anyway.

I'm trying to figure out if folk know chat is fixed. Due to biz stuff I actually logged on yest & today & no one there at 'normal time'. And it's not like IB can do a website-wide announcement saying it's up & running, cuz that would point out it wasn't for a long time

I have fired up the mibbit chat alternative again over at http://mibbit.com/?channel=%23flyert...irc.mibbit.net
To be honest, I prefer it over the normal crap chat.
