What happened to the "Delete Post" option when editing a post?

I am still getting this ...

Hello jbatl. We couldn't help but notice you haven't posted in awhile and wanted to take this opportunity to encourage you to join in the discussions. If you haven't seen anything that has tempted you to post recently, consider heading over to the TravelBuzz! forum ... there is always something interesting/strange/fun being discussed there.
... each time I navigate to FT. Do I need to reset something on my end?

I can't find a number of posts I have made in the last few days. Is something up with that?

Errant email alert

Yesterday at 8:00pm EDT, I received an email notifying me of a post made by Runway Girl entitled "Row 44 says trials will begin in Jan" in the thread, "what's the status with onboard wifi?" in the Southwest forum that she made on December 30, 2008 at 12:58pm. There were several comments after hers, but none later than January 7th, 2009.

The night before, the site was down most of the middle of the night with what was to me a cheery new cherry candy with a white exclamation point on it, and saying so.

Can you link me to the thread?

Here you go

This is the link:

This is the body of the alert email with a shorter link:

Hello Firewind,

Runway Girl has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled -
what's the status with the onboard wifi? - in the Southwest Rapid Rewards forum
of FlyerTalk Forums.

This thread is located at:

Here is the message that has just been posted:

Hello all....glad I found you. This story has grown some legs. Row 44 is
insisting it will get commercial trials going in Jan. No doubt it has Southwest
backing it up in talks with regulators.

Hm. Well, the links looked different when I entered them here. I've never so cleverly had links show up as thread titles, but, hm. Anyway, that tinyurl at the bottom was part of the body of Runway Girl's post.

I can forward the whole email if you like.

You should have paid more attention to the improvements on FT. :p

The descriptive title and web addresses were one of the system upgrades since last December (maybe even earlier. IB folks should be able to give you a more exact timeline).

This is one example discussion thread from December 2008.

A strange problem: Profile Mismatch

I am not sure if data corruption has all been recovered/fixed. I am also not certain if this problem I spotted this afternoon is related to the recent problems either.

I was replying to a thread and wanted to check a poster's posting history in CO Forum. When I clicked on the drop down menu "Visit Public Profile" from the say FT handle in this post, it took me to another FTer's profile. When I clicked on "Find More Posts by XXX", it took me to the correct & complete posting history. I assume they are two different FTers (different posting history/pattern & two join dates).

I don't know what causes the mismatch of profiles. It could have been the recent data corruption. It could also be the index/pointer that fail to distinguish symbols (hyphens, in this case) associated with FT handles. Maybe this is a problem with FT search. Or something else. I don't know.

This could be a rare case since these two FTers have very similar handles. However, there might be more mismatch of FT profiles that hasn't been discovered or reported. Maybe IB can let us know what's going on.

You may want to try and clear your FlyerTalk cookies within your browser. Then log in again. This typically fixes most issues like this. However, from what I can see, you may not be experiencing this issue anymore.

Profile Mismatch Followup: What's the IB Solution?

Does IB have an explanation to the problem yet?

Upon further examination, I found out what separates these two posters are the two hypehens in the FT handles. However, when FT switched to the long descriptive web addresses system last year, the hyphenated long descriptive web links now override the hyphenated names. In other words, FT system may misidentify hyphenated handles and "erase" their profiles.

Lets say we have two (imaginary) members: one with a FT handle "X-Y-Z" and the other "X Y Z"

For FTer "X Y Z", the tentative profile link will be http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/members/X-Y-Z.html

For the other FTer "X-Y-Z", how can FT identify say member with the correct profile link? double hyphens in between (i.e. /members/x--Y--Z/html)?

How can we get to the profile of FTer X-Y-Z?

It seems the option vanished a week or two ago.

I've come across this before, I think it replaces "-" with "_" which is counterintuitive.
